บท 160: Influenced by evil

"Why did His Majesty not punish Mother-in-law?" Empress Mingxia asked her husband as she served him the morning tea. She dismissed the maidservant and settled on the chair before Xiangwei. 

"Our son-in-law could have died in that attack. Did His Majesty not hear what General Lee said to him? There was a shooter too, who shot the arrow at the Crown Prince. His Majesty did not either ask his mother about those assassins. She cannot be left without any punishment," Mingxia suggested as she poured the tea for herself. 

Xiangwei lifted the teacup as he took the first sip. "I went to my mother last night and asked her about them. I will meet the two of them today. The five were caught already." However, he did not trust his mother. "I have a reason for not punishing my mother. She might not tell me fully about those spies. I have never thought my mother would attempt to kill me as well, or else I would have taken away her powers a long time ago," he stated.
