I realized that falling was scary, even knowing that it would not hurt me much, it still terrified me. I crashed down a hillside knocking down trees as I went, desperately hoping I was not about to run over some poor hikers.
Thankfully I did not. I groan in annoyance as I climb out of the crater, and survey the absolute damage I had done to the local forest. This was not cool, destroying this much forest would likely upset the local wildlife, and may uproot the entire local ecosystem.
"Note to self, test flight the last." I knew how to fly. I could remember it vividly through Jason's memories, but knowing something, and doing it was different. In all honesty, it was less about learning to use my powers, but more so learning control. After all, it was not particularly hard learning how to throw a punch.
Most of my powers were instinctual. I knew how to use my lightning, how to create storms, and how to breathe out a wind gale strong enough to knock over buildings. It was all right there in my head.
I could fight too, I had the muscle memory of it, but it would still take a little practice to put my body through the motions. Jason had trained under Hercules for years to master combat, both armed and unarmed, how to use his powers, hell, he was a master of pretty much most weapons out there.
No, what I was trying to learn was how to moderate my powers. I did not wish to go out there and kill some poor fool by punching him too hard.
Alright then, no time like the present, Shazam method it is. I had some time to plan, to get used to my powers I think. Going through my memories of Jason, he had arrived here sometime after Tony Stark announced himself to the world. That was a month ago, and trying to remember the Mcu, I think I have about 1-2 months before the busy week. Currently, it should be the spring of 2010 I think. And then the events of Iron Man 2, Thor, and the Hulk would all happen in the summer of 2010, roughly a year after Iron Man. Their finales all apparently happened within a week… which was absurd.
I had a rough idea of what I would do, but I hadn't thought deeply about whether or not to mess the canon up. I could completely stop the events of The Avengers by involving myself in Thor's spat with Loki… but I didn't think I should. New York's invasion was pivotal to what the MCU would become. Stopping that from happening may just be disastrous for me.
I would be getting involved in Loki's invasion though, the main goal would be at least one Infinity Stone. Though that would come with issues of its own, the price of the acquisition would be well worth it. I had a small window to improve my power to stop Thanos from snapping me. That was the main goal, and the Infinity Stones would be my ticket to getting stronger.
And just like that, time passed. I spent over a month learning control, how to use my powers at will, and how to fly without crashing. It went pretty well. I had most of my abilities under enough control that I wouldn't be killing people by accident. But preparation got you only so far, and if I had to spend any more time in this damned jungle, I'd go crazy. If I had to hunt one more rabbit or dear for dinner, I'd just blow this entire forest to hell.
So with a destination in mind, my jaw set firmly, I summoned my armor to me. It appeared over me in small motes of light, its comforting weight settling over me. The familiar power thrumming inside.
With the speed of Hermes, I blasted off the ground. Flying like a rocket, leaving sonic booms behind me, I was laughing in joy. The feeling of flight was just something no one could do justice by just talking about it. It was something one had to experience, trying to explain how wonderful it was like trying to explain color to a blind man.
"Oh yeah!" I shouted as I blasted forward at blinding speeds, the world blurring around me.
—————————————————-
I landed at my destination with a sense of anticipation about me. I wasn't going to involve myself, but this was something I had watched so many times. The Stark expo.
This was the night where Whiplash would battle throughout the city with Iron Man in one of the coolest early sequences of MCU. A lot of people didn't like it, but I didn't care. Watching Iron Man, and War Machine be badasses was always fun.
As if on cue, the top of the expo area bust open, and people piled out into the street screaming. I watched as Iron Man flew out into the night sky, followed by War Machine, and a dozen different bots.
I'd read stories with people who were inserted into the MCU like me, who planned their steps, and actions methodically. They plotted every single detail and followed a carefully laid down map of actions. That wasn't me. I only came here because of a whim. I had no 12-step plan, I had no blueprint of action. I wasn't even intending to involve myself with canon before the events of the Avengers.
As I stood hiding atop a dark building across the street, a shiver went down my spine. What the hell was that? I looked around, trying to search for whatever it was that spooked me. It… was a sense of wrongness, like black tar across my senses.
I shook my head, focusing again on the street. A very familiar scene was playing itself in front of me. A little kid in an Iron Man mask standing up to a bot, many popular theorists suggested it was Peter Parker.
In a moment, Tony Stark would arrive, saving the kid. I watched in anticipation… the bot raised its hand to the kid, the energy building. Tony was still not here… where the hell was Iron Man? I edged forward, tension building up inside me. What the fuck was happening?
Time slowed down around me, and the world froze. Speed of Hermes. I looked around, desperately searching. People were not dying yet, but if Tony didn't arrive to save the day, they would. Starting with that kid.
I looked again at the kid, frozen now in my perception. Could I stand by watching as a kid, Peter Parker or not, died? This wasn't a movie any longer, this was real life. I may not be a hero, but if I stood by watching a kid die, while I could have saved him… I wouldn't be able to call myself a man anymore.
Looks like tonight is the night to make my debut, with the speed of Hermes, I blasted forward landing right behind the masked kid, who may or may not be, Peter Parker.
I raised my hand, gathering my power in my palm, a blast of lightning shot forward exploding the murder bot.
"Woah," the kid muttered looking up at me, in what I presumed was awe. At that moment, I felt… I felt something I never had before. I thought I understood at that moment why someone like Spider-Man, or Superman did what they did, despite the difficulties they always faced in life.
"Nice job kid," I spoke to the masked boy, "always stand up to bullies." With my last hopefully inspiring message, don't look at me like that, I am learning to how to inspire, I flew upwards. I floated mid-air as the eyes of dozens of killer bots turned upon me. I ignored the chill running down my back, glared in return, lightning blaring over my body, and shouted, "Bring it on!"

A few minutes ago:-

Tony Stark felt this night could not get any worse. What was supposed to be a safe place to share ideas, and inventions, to celebrate the advancement of technology together had turned into a nightmare.
His one-sided rival, whom Tony considered barely more than a clown, in his stupid attempts to get one over him broke a dangerous criminal out of prison, gave him a gold mine of resources, and let him build an army of killer machines that would make Skynet envious.
Tony had finally lost Rhodey for the moment, which allowed him to take out the flying bots behind him. He was flying towards the front of the expo, to take care of the grounded units there when something big smacked him out of the air.
Tony crashed into the street, shaking his head. "Jarvis, what just hit us?"
[Unclear sir, the sensors did not pick up any movement in the vicinity. Running scans now.]
Tony bit back the retort, getting back up on his feet, taking a look at the… thing as it came into view. The loud thumping of its steps, the overbearing size of nearly 30 feet…
"Jarvis buddy," Tony spoke nervously looking up, "try to find me a weakness."
[Right away sir.]
Tony fired his blasters at the thing's face, it flinched but for no more than a second. It came at him, deceptively fast for its size, Tony tried to fly away but got swatted down by the thing.
He did not have time for this, people might be dying at his expo, but the thing brought its giant fist down at him, Tony raised his hands, managing to slow it down. His knee hit the pavement under immense strength and weight.
[Mr. Stark I am receiving reports indicating an unknown enhanced is taking care of the bots around the area.]
Some tension was relieved from Tony's system, if someone else was taking care to protect the people then… "Well, I can't let some newbie show me up." He muttered. The thrusters in his forearms came alive providing extra resistance to shove the giant's fist from top of him. Tony floated up, crossing his arms in front of him, powering up his uni-beam, and hit the monster right in the face.
The thing roared, raising its arms to defend itself, and fell back onto a small building. Tony winced at the destruction, he'd have to pay for that, but thankfully enough, the building did seem empty.
"Please stay down," Tony muttered, but of course, the monster got back up, shaking its head. "If my repulsors won't do it, Jarvis, turn the thruster capacity at 100%," Tony commanded, and without waiting for a response, shot at the thing out of mythology in front of him. That was a mistake he would soon learn as a giant fist met him mid-air, Tony felt his body rattling even through his armor.
He didn't even know what happened, only that he peeled himself off the pavement, shaking deliriously.
[Suit capacity at 47%]
"Not helping J," Tony felt his head clear. He needed to lure this thing away and use his heavy weaponry to take it down. He couldn't shoot missiles in the middle of the city. He braced himself as the thing barrelled at him when an honest to god lightning bolt struck it hurling it off its feet followed by a loud exclamation, "What the fuck?!"

Morpheus pov:
—————————————-
I tore the last machine with my bare hands as it struggled with the damage I had inflicted upon it. Just as I let my guard down, I got proven wrong as something bounced off my skull.
I turned looking at one struggling machine with its arm raised towards me, and I blew it apart with a quick finger-thin lightning blast.
I was bulletproof. Cool. I had wondered, Wonder Woman was always inconsistent in that regard, sometimes she was, sometimes she was not. Not that it ever made sense, she could tango with Superman, but could die from a bullet? It was the dumbest thing ever. Regardless, I was bulletproof, that was a relief.
I looked around me, surveying the damage with a wince, good thing I didn't have any money, or a public identity. I did not want to get sued. People peeled out of their hiding places, under cars, behind fences, cautiously looking around to see if the danger had passed.
"No need to worry," I called out, "they are gone."
I need to work on my charisma because no one decided to come out of their hiding places. Well, I can't help anyone there. I floated above the ground as the same feeling of wrongness hit me once more. I focused on it this time flying towards it at full speed.
A few blocks further away I came to a scene of Iron Man climbing out of a crater as a… a fucking Cyclopes ran at him with what I perceived as ill intent. Ignoring the questions I had, I gathered my power and hurled a bolt of lightning at the thing.
"What the fuck?!"
Honestly did not think I would be updating as often as I am. Though forgive me for the short chapters. I am working on my phone, my laptop is broken for the moment. Probably gonna start writing longer chapters once my laptop is finished.
Honestly I had planned to write a few more chapters of Morpheus learning his powers, getting his bearings but I doubt anyone is interested in that.
So we'll kickstart the events. And as the chapter read, Morpheus is a bit directionless at the moment. That's kinda his character journey, learning who he is.
Anyhow, next chapter will be his first actual fight. Lemme know what you guys think, I am still learning how to write myself. Leave me a comment, a review if you feel like it. Peace.
