บท 89: Qarth fight 79

Outside the fortified walls of Qarth—along the forward parapet of which four archers were positioned to shoot down intruders. And Half a dozen red-turbaned, heavily armed guards walked around patrolling thr main gate.

Merlin, cloaked and hooded, stands in the shadows just outside along with Balthazar, Queen Isis and . His eyes glint with determination as he reaches into his cloak and pulls out a sleek, metallic arrow—the Yaka Arrow. Its shaft glows faintly with a reddish hue.

Merlin softly said,"Let's see how well this works."

The guards stand at attention, unaware of the danger approaching. Their armor gleams under the torchlight, and they grip their spears tightly.

Merlin brings the arrow to his lips and begins to whistle—a haunting, melodic tune that carries on the night air.

The arrow lights up, responding to Merlin's whistle. It levitates from his hand and hovers for a moment, shimmering with energy.

With a sharp, high-pitched sound, the arrow shoots forward, slicing through the air with incredible speed. It leaves a faint trail of red light in its wake.

The arrow strikes the first guard in the chest, piercing through his armor with ease. He collapses to the ground before he can cry out.

Merlin's tune shifts slightly, and the arrow abruptly changes direction, darting towards the next target.

The arrow weaves through the guards, striking each one with deadly precision. It loops around a guard's spear and drives into his throat. It hovers for a split second before accelerating and taking out two guards standing close together.

One of the last guards turns, eyes wide in terror, as the arrow comes straight for him. He raises his shield, but the arrow effortlessly pierces through it and him.

At gate of Qarth, guards lie scattered around the entrance, the only sound the faint echo of Merlin's whistling. The arrow hovers momentarily above the scene, then speeds back to Merlin.

Merlin catches the arrow effortlessly, its glow fading as it returns to his cloak. He looks at the now unguarded gates and steps forward.

Merlin gestured Balthazar, Isis and there small army, they all slowly made it inside.

Memnon's palace stands tall and imposing against the night sky, a symbol of power and tyranny. Guards patrol the streets of Qarth, their torches flickering in the wind.

Balthazar, Isis and there men start taking out any patrol guards, that became an issue.

But Queen Isis and her warrior women jumped down from the cart, and one of the red-turbaned guards— his attention already caught—strode over, calling, "You there! You wenches!"

Isis turned and regarded him with a steely stare; the guard drew his sword as he approached. Resting the tip of the weapon to the queen's slender throat, the guard growled, "And what are you up to, you women?"

"Remove your sword from my neck," the queen commanded.

He frowned. "No female tells me what to do!" She leaned forward, causing the point of the sword to dimple her own flesh, her eyes flashing as she said, "There's always a first time."

Then she leaned away from the blade and, in a move as swift as it was graceful, a blur in the startled guard's eyes, Isis swung around her right leg and her foot caught the man's wrist, sending his sword flying end over end into the air.

And when the weapon came down, the queen snatched it into her grasp, as easy as picking a grape off a bunch, the pommel making a nice fit in her hand. The guard barely had time for any of this to register, before Isis returned his sword to him—driving it deep into his chest. She regarded his startled expression, and the wide empty eyes, in the guard's face; then she said, "A first time, and a last," and pushed him to the ground. The other guards regarded this with amazement for a few moments, then belatedly drew their swords and rushed over, as the warrior women—lithe and graceful as any harem-girl dancers— drew their own blades, dispatching the sentries quickly, all but silently. Blood tan and glistened in the moonlight

But one of them still alive sounded the alarm horn, thus the alarm bells echoed through the palace and beyond, the raiding party of Balthazar, Queen Isis and her warrior women—outside the walls, shrouded in night shadows, awaiting the explosion that would signal their attack—reacted with dismay.

"Oh no," Queen Isis said.

"Damn," Balthazar breathed, as he saw a phalanx of the red-turbaned guards come running at them from around the corner of the palace, in full battle array, swords high.

Merlin spoke up,"Don't worry I will take care of it."

Merlin stands in the center and his eyes focused on the palace. He raises his arms, and a magical glyph glows beneath his feet, illuminating the ground with fiery energy.

Merlin chanting in ancient Valyria,"By the flames of the heavens, I call upon the fury of the skies."

The glyph expands, fiery lines of magic extending outward. A deep rumble starts, the ground vibrating with the intensity of the

High above, massive meteors start to materialize, their molten cores radiating heat.

Each meteor is a colossal, fiery rock, surrounded by roaring flames. They crackle and pulse with raw energy, leaving trails of smoke and fire as they begin their descent.

The meteors plummet towards the palace with increasing speed. The air around them distorts from the intense heat, creating a shimmering effect.

The first meteor hits the palace walls, creating a massive explosion. Fire and debris fly in all directions, and the shockwave ripples outwards, knocking down guards and shattering windows.

Another meteor smashes into a tower, causing it to crumble and collapse.

A series of meteors rain down on the palace courtyard, creating craters and engulfing the area in flames.

One meteor strikes the main hall, obliterating the roof and sending burning wreckage into the sky.

The palace is engulfed in flames and smoke. The meteors continue to fall, each impact creating more destruction. Buildings crumble, walls collapse, and the ground is scorched black.

Merlin yelled,"I am going inside to get Memnon, the meteors won't hurt you." as lowers his arms, the glyph fading away. He watches as the palace is half consumed by the inferno, the flames reflecting in his eyes.

This caused Memnon's army to fall into chaos, while Merlin ran inside.

Balthazar and Isis took this chance and rushed to battle. Queen Isis had seen the Nubian in full battle form before; but even she could only be impressed by his frightening skills.

A massively muscled right arm raised and lowered and swung and carved that blade with swift, spectacular precision; Balthazar's strategy was impeccable, using one body to block and unhinge another opponent, until they were literally falling over themselves, the living onto the dead. And soon the elite red-turbaned guards lay scattered across the bottom of the palace steps like human refuse, while the Nubian king loomed above them like an unforgiving god.

Balthazar gave a solemn nod to his fallen foes, saying, "We will meet again in the underworld," and then he strode, two at a time, up the steps of the palace, to the golden doors at the top landing.

"Wait!" Isis called to him. "What are you doing? Where are you going?"

Balthazar turned; at the crest of those steps he looked more like a great guard than the invader he was. "I am going inside—we must modify our battle plan." Eyes flaring, Isis asked, "In what way?"

"I am going inside," the Nubian said, "and aid the wizard." The queen gestured to her warriors, the women here and there about the steps. "Shall we come, too?"

Balthazar cut in"No."

Queen Isis looked at Balthazar"You would do this alone?"

"Yes—just as the wizard said he would stand alone against Memnon and his armies." "But..."

Balthazar cut in again"Woman! Do I have a choice? ... Guard these doors!"

Queen Isis reluctantly agreed.

While Balthazar ran after Merlin.
