I gave a headshake.

"Would you like a beverage?" He approached a little pub in the distance and held out a crystal bottle containing an amber drink. I agreed without giving it any thought, and he poured two glasses.

He muttered, "Just two fingers today, Petal," as he handed it to me.

I gave in to my chuckle. "I'm grateful. I'm sorry, but this entire thing is really getting under my skin.

He arched an eyebrow but then seemed to reconsider adding further innuendo to the situation. "Likewise."

I began by saying, "I feel a little out of my element with you."

However, he didn't laugh crudely. I am aware.

"See, what occurred at the club before? Since I turned twenty-one, I had been dating the same man.

After taking a sip, Max listened while gazing into his drink. I pondered how much information about Andy, myself, and our relationship I truly wanted to share with him.
