Xander realized that he had no choice but to fight the Shadow Guardian if he wished to restore the domain and return to the arena. However, he had no clue how he was going to approach this fight since his surroundings were completely unfamiliar to him, and he could not see a thing due to the Blind Deity's curse.

Before Xander had a chance to re-assess his situation, the Shadow Guardian, who had already taken Xander's physical form, pulled out its revolver and shot Xander in the chest.

Unable to see anything, Xander could not avoid the attack and dropped dead to the floor.
