The cultist pointed his twisted fingers at the Noctis Umbrae, and the book rose from the ground and flew up in the air. It kept rising higher, and higher till it eventually disappeared amidst the fleecy white clouds. 

"Nothing can stop us from fulfilling our Dark Mother's will. The Noctis Umbrae will whisper its secrets to us, and we will whisper it back to the veiled realm," the cultist said, grinding his teeth like a lunatic.

Xander gripped his scythe in his right hand and shot toward him like a bullet. The Dream Cleaver's curved blade slashed downward at full power, but the cultist blocked the attack with the chains wound around his arm.

Sharp steel clashed against cold iron, and the jarring clang resonated across the summit. Xander kept raining blow after blow, but all his attacks were blocked by the cultist's chains.
