บท 17: Why Him?
Outside the Outskirts of Valdan City, was a small town called Eldoria, it was bustling with people since it was closer to Valdan City, there were all sorts of activities going on in this town.
The town was small but warm, in the past it was filled with a gloomy atmosphere since the country's economy was collapsing.
But after the interference of Archman Group, things had stabilized, the farmers were happy their food crops were bought at good prices and citizens of Valdan City will often come to purchase goods from them.
This situation could be seen around the entire Gold Country, everyone wheather from a big or small city all benefited from the boost in Economy.
In one of the motels in the town a group of men in black were gathered in a single room.
They looked quite normal and there was nothing special about them, they all looked average except the blond beauty in the middle. There was a map of Valdan City on the table as they surrounded and listened to the old man sitting in the middle.
"From our Intel we know that Archman Group Chairman moves around in a Convoy of 7 Escalade ESV, in this convoy they have a fully armored bulletproof team on stand by ready for attacks at anytime
The remaining 3 cars are filled with his special unit and he is in the last car, but the problem is we don't know the position of the car the chairman is in
his car changes location everytime they move, he can be Infront, at the back or in the middle, but the main problem is we don't know when his convoy will move out
Over the last three months, he rarely leaves his mansion and his convoy has been reportedly to have left his mansion only once over the last three months which was just 2 days ago.
Attacking his house is suicide, it's the most protected land in the world even the airspace is restricted.
This mission might seem like suicide to you all but the night whisperer has a plan that will make everything easier and I assure you, we might complete the mission without any casualties".
After the old man stopped talking, the place was filled with silence. Most of the assassins here did not believe they would survive, this mission was a direct definition of what a last ever mission was.
Victoria the Whisperer of death, looked at the crowd gathered in the room, they were all her comrades she had fought side by side with and she did not want to let them die a useless death.
"I will first go into the city alone to confirm somethings before I tell you the plan, I have to make sure everything is 100 percent ready to avoid any casualties"
They all nodded their heads, they weren't worried about her going alone, she was the Whisperer of death, who could touch her.
Victoria changed her black clothes and took a bus heading to Valdan City, she held a paper and written on it was Emotion Palace.
She muttered the name and clutched the paper with determination.
Luke and John closed the shop and headed for Rear View estate, John's house was located right beside Luke's house.
After getting home Luke got out of the car but saw Beatrice waiting for him, she stood by the door wearing a white shirt and jeans, you could see she had not even changed since arriving home.
She smiled at Luke brightly and then looked at John, this guy had been missing for a while now and he just popped out of nowhere, she smiled at him politely and offered
"Why don't you stay for dinner".
John was surprised, he wanted to reject but Luke turned around "What are you acting all shy for". John smiled and walked into the house.
The dinning table was filled with a variety of food which left Luke and John stupidfied.
The table was filled with Grilled chicken with roasted vegetables and garlic mashed potatoes, Spaghetti Bolognese with a side salad and garlic bread, Baked salmon with lemon butter sauce, served with quinoa and steamed asparagus.
Luke with a stunned expression asked "you cooked all this, by yourself?"
Beatrice just smiled and sat down, Luke was reluctant to eat with her alone that was why he dragged John along.
But after seeing the food he swallowed a mouth full of saliva and just wanted to have a taste.
John on the other hand was not going to wait for any permission before he started digging in, taking large portions of the chicken which were Luke favorites, Luke knew if he left John to go on like this he would starve, so he also dug in and began to eat without caring for anything.
Beatrice felt gratified as she watched her husband enjoy the meal she had prepared, she felt a sweet feeling in her heart, even bagging in a billion dollar contract won't bring her such joy.
She didn't eat as she stared at Luke eating with a smile.
Luke noticed her Smile and asked Lucy in his mind, "damn it Lucy, I didn't confirm first. is the food poisoned?"
If Lucy had a physical form, she would be rolling her eyes right now, the audacity to ask such a question whiles fighting over a piece of chicken, wouldn't it be more convincing to stop and ask.
" If there was I would have told before you arrived home".
Luke nodded and then glanced at Beatrice and asked " Why aren't you eating?".
"Am good, thanks for asking", Beatrice smiled.
Luke nodded and continued to dig in, after the meal John got up and thanked Beatrice before taking his leave.
Luke and Beatrice took their baths, after taking his, Luke started heading for the sturdy but was pulled back by Beatrice.
She firmly held his hands and said " I won't force you to do the deed, all I want is to sleep with you on the same bed, that's not much to ask for right?"
she said with her blue eyes staring at Luke intently.
Luke also stared back and asked, " Why me?, we've never met. So why are you so into me. I know you don't have any ill intent, but why choose me?."
Beatrice was silent for a while and said "when it's time I will tell you, but for now trust me".
Luke looked at, trust her. He had barely known her for a week and she's talking about trust.
He sighed, " go to sleep. I have something to do, but I promise when am done, I will join you after all you are my wife".
Beatrice let his hand go, and nodded, all she could do now was to trust him
