Skalain's voice resonated with a mix of confidence and analysis as he shared his observations with Jareth. He carefully described the body proportions of the assailant, pointing out specific details such as height, build, and any distinct features he had discerned during his inspection of the crime scene.
"He was of average height, perhaps a bit taller than the victim," Skalain remarked, his mind still filled with the vivid images he had witnessed through his magical examination. "His build seemed to be lean and agile, indicating a certain level of physical dexterity. And there was something about the shape of his hands—slender, but with a strength that belied his appearance."
Jareth listened intently, absorbing the details Skalain provided. The information would prove invaluable in narrowing down the pool of potential suspects and guiding their investigation moving forward.
"I did not expect you to learn these from just the corpse."
Jareth commented.
Skalain smiled and answered.
"It is only because the murderer is a complete novice when it comes to hiding his tracks."
Jareth nodded, and then, after nodding at the two grave workers to take the corpse back, he started talking.
"For the day, you gave me enough details. You can go back and rest. We can continue tomorrow."
Skalain understood what Jareth meant and nodded as he left the graveyard and went to his house.
Skalain made his way back to his house, his mind still buzzing with thoughts and theories.
"Soul Magic..."
"The murderer, the Void Star—everything starts to get more confused as the time goes on."
"I need to work on the mystical aspects of the magic."
As he entered his dwelling, a sense of solitude washed over him. The quietude of his surroundings offered a stark contrast to the turmoil and mysteries he had encountered throughout the day. Skalain took a moment to collect himself, allowing the weight of the investigation to settle on his shoulders.
Seated at his desk, Skalain reviewed his notes and sketches, meticulously recording every detail he had observed during his inspection. The room was bathed in a soft, warm glow, courtesy of the flickering candle that danced upon the tabletop.
Skalain started reading pretty simple tomes about the magic and how it controlled him. Right now, he is using the power of the system to work on his magic. His knowledge about the fundamentals of the magic was still lacking, but he is now able to understand it with ease.
After about an hour of reading, Skalain understood something simple.
"There are four important things when it comes to magic."
"Energy"
"Imagination"
"Control"
"Affinity"
Skalain then started thinking about each of them.
"Energy is the amount of magic energy in the body and soul of a mage. "There is more that can be used, and more power as well as imagination can be added to it."
"Imagination is self-explanatory. The creative mages are the ones who use their imagination to control the magic as well as put magic energy into their imagination. Which then spells are formed."
"Affinity is a natural-born characteristic of a mage. Everyone has some sort of affinity, such as dark magic, light magic, fire magic, and so on."
"I still have too much to learn and not nearly enough time."
"I need to work hard to learn these things."
Skalain thought and kept on reading about the basics.
