บท 26: 26. Change of Plan
CHAPTER XXVI: CHANGE OF PLANS
"KYLE!? What the hell are you doing here!?" I ask the stupid administrator standing infront of me.
"I've come to stop you from making a horrible mistake!" He says and walks closer. Damn dude, stay away from me. I'm not into dudes. Is he even gay, I don't know but handsome dudes like him make me feel uncomfortable.
Anyway back to the matter at hand. I release the energy I was gathering for the Kame Hame Ha Wave. Calm myself from all the chaos going on. What's up with the ridiculous storm. The winds are raging now that I notice. The lightning is also raging hard and everywhere.
"What mistake? I'm simply trying to complete a mission!" I demand. I've pretty much calmed down but the adrenaline is still keeping my blood warm.
"Eto a moment please." He says and walks away from the chaos of the area I was fighting on. What exactly is going on here. This storm makes it sound like it's the sky is about to tear in two. I can barely keep my eyes open let alone stand in this hurricane like winds.
So anyway, I proceed to join Kyle out of earshot of the stunned to silence Helena and the rest. If he wanted privacy why not just bring me to the office like he did before. Seems like too much trouble to come here amidst a typhoon.
"Were you seriously going to wipe out everyone just to kill one girl!" He begins.
To be honest there are a lot of better ways I could have gone about doing this. I mean she seems to trust me especially because of what happened earlier today so a stealth kill was likely possible. When that notification popped up while I was talking to Freya, I just had this horrible feeling. Mixed in with panic and dread, my mind just became cloudy. My resolve from earlier took over. I just wanted a distraction. I had a bit of hope they could stop me because I really don't want to kill the girl. More like I want to stick my dick in her pink pussy.
Even while saying that, I didn't want to die. I don't want to die. It is more than likely that I can return to earth. Not as I was before but more powerful than ever. Return to earth to see my family. See Ruzan again. My friends and family. Kyle already hinted at a possibility of that if I can complete all 100 MISSIONS. To accomplish that I know I will have to do a lot of bad things. When Tark stopped me from reaching Helena I only saw my dreams fading away. So what does that make my answer to Kyle.
"Yes Kyle. I would have killed everyone here just to kill one girl and I probably will."
He appears to study my body language from my answer. Well this is no lie. I will kill Helena Detalia and anyone who tries to stop me from getting to her. That includes Freya. I have no emotional attachment to her or anyone from this world. I know I said I didn't have much attachment to earth but there was a saying on earth. 'You don't know what you have until you lose it.'
"I see… well you might not need to anymore." He answers.
"Why is that!?"
"You see, there was a problem with the system." He casually answers.
A problem with the system? Well that's bloody well convenient!
"What exactly does that mean!?" I inquire.
"I'm not really sure what happened myself but the Almighty sent me to offer you a reprieve." He begins. "We're currently running diagnostics to get to the bottom of the issue. Since we don't know when the issue began, we have to consider your current mission 3 cancelled. Once we have dealt with the issues you will receive a notification as usual. You will also receive a new Mission 3."
"How long will that take?"
"I cannot give you a proper timeline at this time but like I said. You will receive a notification should things return to normal. At most a day or two should be enough. The system you are using is old and prone to hacking and cliches. Your chance to upgrade to a newer model will happen once you complete your 10th mission."
He did say they have been doing this for more than 10 million years. I imagine the system I'm using now is older then the civilisation of earth. So the third mission might have been a glitch in the system. I can wait a day or two but I've done some actions I cannot take back. There's also the thing with the blood contract. The good thing is I didn't go through with it. The bad news is that I almost did. I don't want to be hung in my underwear and have weird shit thrown at me. It's going to be hard to complete my side of the contract now that they don't trust me anymore. This stupid system really made a mess of things. Looking over at Kyle expecting a response, I think there might be a way to pave way for a reconciliation of sort.
"Can I ask a favour Kyle." I begin.
"I'm afraid you're too late Eto!" He says and points towards where we came from.
Shit! They're all gone! I was too caught up with this system thing to notice them living! I close my eyes and try to sense them. Damn! I can't sense a damn thing! What the fuck is going on!? I can't even see far because of the stupid winds blowing up dust and smoke. I can't even hear the horses because of all the lightning and thunder. What is with this storm!?
"Remember Eto!" Kyle suddenly calls me. "Wait for the notification! The storm is my doing. I was trying to pull you to my office but there was somekind of interference because it works with the system. I had to use my own powers to come here and thus the storm. It should clear up once I return to my office." He says and vanished right before my eyes in a brilliant flash of light. What a weirdo?
Almost immediately the winds start to die out and the calm returns. The scary dark clouds start to calm and separate. In less than 5 minutes the scary thundering stormy day turns into a blissful sunny day. What scary powers Kyle has. I don't think I want him as an enemy. Well he is a God after all. It makes sense that he's powers are seemingly divine. Enough to control the weather like that.
So back to the matter at hand. I can't see or hear the carriage anymore. I can't even sense them anymore. Meaning they are beyond my sensory limits. If I remember correctly we were headed to Fort Defal near the North West border to the empire. If I just head for the fort we will eventually meet up. That's easy enough but the problem is those Beastkin from earlier today. I can go ahead to the Fort but what if they are attacked by them again. Tark and Freya can maybe hold them off, especially Tark. I think he was still holding back when we fought.
Helena has blood magic but I can't really tell if that's an offensive magic. I thought this world was limited to elemental magic but it seems I was wrong. Freya can use Earth Magic and Fire Magic. Which means there is elemental magic but I haven't really caught up on much about magic.
I can only speculate based on my experiences since I came to this world. Mostly based on my battles earlier today. Since I can't use or sense magic I can only assume.
The Beastkin I fought and Tark seem to boost their physical abilities using mana. Tark used it to enhance his speed and agility and then his physical strength but like I said. He's a nice guy so he was holding back. I don't know why the Beaskin was holding back but he too seemed to use the same type of ability.
Then there's Freya who used elemental magic. I noticed it the first time we met way back on my first day. Although that was only a small flame. Today she showed me her true abilities with those two spells. I don't know if the enchantment is part of the spell or if it's just her doing it because I haven't encountered anyone else. She's the first person I've seen using elemental magic. Maybe it depends on the level of mastery but it's all just guess work at this point.
Lastly it's Helena and her Blood Magic. She used it for the blood contract but what else is it for. Is she the only one that could do it? Are there other types of magic? Speaking of blood magic, that contract is kind of bothering me. I don't know how but they were both adamant the gods will step in should either of us fail to uphold their end of the deal. We already know that it is me so what exactly will happen? How will the gods punish me?
So in conclusion I have come across three types of magic. Physical Enhancement Magic, Elemental Magic and Blood Magic. I think I need to read up on it the next town I get to.
[Author's Note: There are three main types of magic in Ros. The first was mentioned by Freya as Martial Skill Magic. Using mana to enhance your physical attributes. This type of magic is the easiest to learn but the most difficult to master.
The second type of magic is known as Elemental Magic. Controlling and manifesting the four elements of Fire, Air, Water and Earth. Most people can barely control a single element but the most talented can reach up to three elements. There are varying levels of mastery but details to be revealed later on. It is hard to learn and even harder to master.
Last and certainly not least is Null Magic. You cannot learn it, you have to be born with it. Blood Magic falls under such a category. It is hereditary and highly sought after. Only the Detalia family has this magic and its uses vary from each person. I will explain more as more of the family is revealed throughout this volume. There are many types of Null Magic throughout the world. It cannot be stolen or copies. You either have it or you don't.]
