บท 40: surprise update
i panted as i ran through the shades of hogwarts castle, my brow was scrunched up in worry and concentration as i warily looked around to check my surroundings. my eyes widned as i felt a chill down my back, narronly dodging the projectile which exploded behind my back on the walls
I turned to look at my attacker
twin silhouttes greeted my sight , causing my breath to stale. They approached me with slow menacing steps , causing me to stumble back . soon the pair became visible they smiled evilly .
" it's him "
" the potter "
" first year ."
" ravenclaw . "
said both of them alternately .
" you are not going to gang up on a first year are you " i asked hopefully. the weasley twins looked at each other and simultaneously turned back , transfiguring twin snowballs " actually we are. "
their magic surged preparing to launch the projectiles at me. immediately i shouted : " wait waii wait ! "
they stopped confused . " what ? it's over stop whinig and roll over and accept your fate ! "
i gasped and looked around . the windows of the castle were filled with losers . literally . it was an all - out hogwarts snow - ball battle. every single one who stayed back for the holidays participated. it was finally the showdown of finalists :

i grunted at the crowd and chucled : " i mean , think about it what kind of glory would you get by ganging up on a first - year so , in the spirit of the sport , why don't we call it a three - way - tie , and call it a day , eh ? "

silence reigned . suddenly two hands burst out of the snowball mess waving a white flag weakly. hogwarts burst into cheers.

the weasleys clawed out of the snow ball mess coughing and wheezing. they immediately shouted gasping:" hey ! you can't use hagrid. he's faculty. "
i smirked and replied :" actually according to hogwarts guidelines gamekeeper is not an official position : thus not faculty !"
they spat out snow and replied " but still he's hagrid . it has to be cheating . " they turned around facing the impartial judge : " professor mcgonall. " mcgonall's stern face turned calculating and finally announced:" actually anyone other than faculty is fair game . so i'm going to have to give this game to potter " i cheered hi - fiving the half giant while the twins burst into agony : " but from this game forth game - keepers- " minerva looked pointedly at hagrid causing him to look away in shame . are not to partcipate in snowball games "
the weasleys turned around and frowned: "unbeleivable ! "

I smiled cheekily at the twin pranksters and replied : it's called a strategy maybe you guys should take notes " the weasley snort at me:" maybe you should grow some balls. "

soon the remainder of the students , who stayed back for holidays , were all feasting in the great hall , celebrating the snowball battle. the grand hall was completely transformed to contain the holiday thematics . the food and tableclothes had changed to christmas delicacies and hues of red and green.
2 months had passed since halloween. the golden trio was finally a thing now . which means i was finally free . i was making significant progress in the map, such that catching pettigrew was an arm's throw away.
i spent my days exploring my magic like any good isekai protagonist should. spendrig my days in either the room of requirements or with my friends. quierelmort was being dealt with by the responsible parties and i was enjoying my off time like a king
" hey potter " george called , nibbling on egg white . " here , you lost your balls " he said throwing an egg yolc at me .
The entire hall burst th to laughter , causing me to roll my eyes. these guys were still on that ?
i replied without missing a beat " and you are eating my ball sack? " i pointed towards the egg white he was nibbling to do . "
that incited another bout of laughter from the crowd , with fred's laugh louder than nearly all of them . he came towards me and patted : " you're alright potter how the hell did you end up with those raven - nerds anyway . "
" because i don't call them raven - nerds . just like you guys don't call yourselves gryffinder - idiots . that's for others to do. "
fred chuckled : "fair enough ! still can't Believe you actually won though. but still, a bet's a bet."
fred opened his hands revealing a vial containing a rainbow hued solution . my eyes widened at the swirling ethereal glow. i immediately snatched it away and whispered, my eyes glued to it " hordan's solution ! "
i forced my eyes anay from it and asked smiling " where did you get it from? "
george came from the side and replied : " it's a fairly common solution used in a lot of potions. not a big deal . i just asked mom to mail us some . but what is interesting is what a firstie like you would want with it . "
the twins simultaneously rose their eye brows while i just chuckled : " that , is for me to know ! "
nighttime , room of requirements door
i solemnly stood before my companion for almost a year and took a deep breath . i had checked the map a thousand times and had carefully come out. terry and michael along with padma was gone , for holidays. sneaking out had been easy but i wanted no mistake in today's task.
i can't afford to screw today up. I slowly said
" i need a room to make my potion "

the darkness morphed into the likenes of a door. i exhaled and opened the door. inside the door greeted me a familiar sight. thousands of failed trials for the hordan's solution. turns out it was newt level for a reason . you hear that fellow isekai protagonist this is real life , you want a potion you gotta con it out of two second years.
i sighed and reached the potion - pot. with practiced ease, i disappeared the pot's contents , with a flick of my wrists. in the now clear pot i brought my hard - earned bottle of hordan's solution . i closed my eyes in determination and tipped the lid . the rainbow fluid poured out into pot , til the bottle was empty .
my hands went into my poket and brought out a satchel and a vial. I opened the satchel revealing a single acromantula pincer. i threw it into the boiling pot. immediately the entire pincer melted into reddish goo , boiling with bubbles . finally i threw in grinded unicorn horn.
"Ffsshhhhhhhy..."
the potion started boiling violently causing me to back away . the pot turned red hot slowly approaching orange. i prepared to bolt. suddenly everything stopped. The room fell into eerie silence. i bsowly approached pot and locked inside. suddenly i smiled . inside the pot churned a glittery red potion with an ethereal glow.
the potion of unbinding was prepared.

" how could you have known ? " a half goblin angrily tried to assault a first year , while half the ravenclaw team tried to hold him back ." how could you have possibly known ? "
" known what ? " asked the first year incredulously .
" potter , how on earth did you know about longbottom being seeker . are you a witch? "

the half - goblin shouted madly : " don't play coy with me boy . you have your mother's gift don't you . you are a seer . a seer ! "
i finally sighed : " proffesor i simply deduced it . it was the most logical conclusion . besides didn't i ask to be on the team . so aren't you being a little extreme? "
suddenly the half - goblin stopped his struggles and laid his head down : " i suppose you are right. in the end it was i who did not listen to your warnings. so i suppose in a way - "
" they won , the gryffindors won ! " a ravenclaw suddenly came in panting and announced.
the entire room suddenly fell silent all eyes suddenly turned to the stupefied half goblin.
