บท 88: werewolves and wolfsbane potion
the next day, the news paper is about werewolves incidents and the ministry decided to imprison the werewolves, why you ask? , a werewolf transformed suddenly in diagon alley and wrecked havok because of full moon, seeing this Alex immediately connected to Fenrir Greyback and asked him about this.
greyback who heard the voice trembled and explained that a man of their tribe forgot to take the potion and goes to buy some materials for it at diagon alley, since no one is making and selling wolfsbane as werewolves are criticised everywhere they needed to brew themselves, Alex gave them the recipe for it and they brewed it according to instructions but a werewolf missed his potion and goes to bring the ingredients.
unfortunately, it's a full moon that day and he transformed into a werewolf lost his sanity and attacked others. although no died and injured , many shops has been destroyed and the ministry is now mad at werewolves, this caused Alex a headache and now thinking about Remus , since he is a werewolf he should be careful as he works at ministry.
Alex is now decided to release the recipe to calm the uprising conflict of werewolves and ministry, he already asked Sirius about this, though Sirius didn't believe him and even James said not to work on this as the potion may work or fail, but his system gave him a stable version with 100 percent success and the werewolves don't transform after drinking this, they will also regain their sanity.
Alex now felt a headache and asked greyback to hide from the ministry with the vampires, he them sent a letter to his mother with a potion recipe and letter about his concern to Remus and told her convince the ministry about this after trying the potion on werewolf when the ministry is watching. Alex knows about werewolves working at the ministry though the work they do is small ones like writing letters, gathering parchment paper and serving assistants, he knows this incident yesterday will cause a serious conflict , he is hoping everything will go as he don't want Lupin to end up in a isolated place for werewolves.
next day, potter manor:
Lily and James hid Remus since ministry is searching for werewolves and an owl approached the manor, Lily took the letter and read it's contents with a smile and looked the parchment sheets along with the letter, she confirmed the potion and showed the recipe to James and asked him to call Sirius, they planned to solve the conflict now.
Lily, James , Sirius and Remus discussed about the letter's contents and Sirius expressed his doubts but Lily said why don't we try it after talking to the ministry , they agreed with this and decided to produce a potion for werewolves as they have the recipe.
Lily told James that they need to talk to the minister Millicent bagnold about this, as she is now on the verge losing her position, they knew as long the minister know about this she will approve it as it will give face to solve a conflict without shedding blood.
they got ready and told Sirius to take care of Remus , then went to the ministry.
ministry of magic, minister's office:
Millicent bagnold is looking at the recipe of potion with complicated eyes and looked at Lily and James, she don't know what to say when she heard it's invented by Lily's son, but she is now out of options as the daily prophet is questioning her daily about the werewolf incident and many pure bloods are pressuring her to lose her position.
she needs to do something and now a solution appeared before her, she agreed with Lily's decision to test this potion on a werewolf while the daily prophet and the heads of departments are watching, Lily also told her this potion will be available to the market in a cheap price through their company, and they will also release the potion to the public, since all of them can't buy potions and some try to make them.
Millicent bagnold didn't say anything but nodded her head, she held a meeting and told them about the potion but excluded Alex from this as she plan to reveal it after looking at the effect, she told them it's Lily potter who brought this recipe from a person to her and asked her to end the conflict and made peace with werewolves.
the meeting though finalised they will agree to test the potion said they will only come to an agreement with the werewolves after seeing the effects of potion, there is a heated discussion about this for an hour and they agreed to test it tomorrow, Millicent asked Lily to brew the potion with the help of potion department in ministry.
Lily did it and presented some samples to the minister the next day, a cage containing a man who is looking at others with a fierce gaze is brought and the daily prophet along with the officials and pure blood families is there as per the request of minister.
the aurors gave the man the potion asked him to drink it, the man did it and they opened the while aurors are hidden there will jump if the werewolf gets out of control, an auror tremblingly approached the man and asked him to transform into werewolf to test the potion.
though the man is shocked by the words he quickly transformed into a werewolf but has sanity and talked to the auror like a normal wizard, everyone appauled confirming the potion effects even after an hour passed the man in werewolf from is behaving like a normal person.
Millicent bagnold concluded this potion is working and told the daily prophet to release the recipe while she revealed Alex as the creator of this potion( although many made this potion it always has defects and the potion only works for a some hours while Alex's potion made the werewolf retain their sanity completely), her words caused a commotion and the members are shocked when they heard a 12 year old made it, the daily prophet reporter Reeta Skeeter repeatedly asked is it true and Millicent nodded and said, she will elect the boy for order of Merlin 3rd class, this caused another commotion, but after some arguments they agreed to this decision, while Lily and James are shocked by this.
the ministry annouced its peace treaty with werewolves and greyback on the orders of Alex agreed to it, they released the recipe to public and also about Alex getting an order of Merlin in 3rd class.
