The sadness in Mia's eyes was replaced by curiosity. "I know it's none of my business, but why did you break up?"
Declan hated to avoid this particular topic, but he knew he owed her an explanation. If there was any way to convince her to go back with him, it was, to be honest with her.
"Fiona was the one who broke up with me," he sighed, running his hand through his hair. Mia remained silent as he gathered his courage.
"To be honest, I once thought I loved Fiona, but now I know better. I was never in love with her. It was all infatuation. I loved what I saw and what I believed her to be. She showed me what I wanted to see. She knew everything about me before the relationship and used it against me."
Mia frowned. "I don't understand."
