Sheila opened her mouth but didn't say a word and closed it back. A pair of hand pulled her close, her hands brushing her hair backwards. Sheila whispered, "I'm so sorry, Mia. I'm sorry."
She pulled back with a slight frown, "Why are you apologizing? It's not your fault that Jake is a cheating bastard. Can you believe he brought her to our bed?"
Sheila gasped, "I had no idea he was such a dirty bastard. What are you going to do about it?"
She gulped down her water, "I don't know, Sheila. I have no idea what to do? He doesn't know that I know he is cheating on me yet."
"He doesn't know?" Sheila had released her and was now sitting opposite her again. "Do you know who this woman is?" blue set of eyes gazed at her curiously.
Mia shook her head slowly.
Sheila held her gaze, and spoke softly, "You didn't see who she was? You didn't catch them red-handed?
She shook her head again, "I went home earlier than I had told my husband that I was coming. I didn't mean to, but my appointment suddenly got canceled. I wanted to spend some time with him because he wasn't always around. I was about to open the door when I heard a moaning sounds from our bedroom. I knew it was a female voice, and I also heard my husband's voice. I don't know anything about the woman."
Sheila sighed, picking up Mia's glass of water and downing it all at once. "Did the woman voice sound familiar to you?" She questioned.
She furrowed her brows in concentration, but all she could remember was the sound of her moans. Was there any way to identify a voice through moaning? "I don't know. I only heard her moan, she didn't say a word." Or did she? It was difficult to identify voice when one wasn't in the right frame of mind.
Sheila stood up and started pacing the room. She stared at her concerned. "Is something wrong, Sheila? Do you know something or is there anything you would like to tell me?"
Sheila paused and nodded; then she shook her head again, "I don't know anything. There is nothing to tell."
"But, you are acting strange." She stood up, walked towards her and held her gaze. "You know that if there is any problem you can confide in me. I am your friend. I will always be there for you."
Sheila forced a smile, "There is nothing. Have you heard from Beth?" Changing the subject was that easy for Sheila.
"No. I tried calling her while coming over but she wasn't picking up. I guess she is busy preparing for a show."
Sheila nodded, "So, how about we watch some movies? You really need to do anything to take your mind off this right now."
Mia smiled. Sheila was a sweetheart, she met her at College, and they had hit it off immediately. Sheila's boyfriend had broken up with her because he couldn't endure the stress of a long-distance relationship and she was finding it difficult to adjust to her new life in college. They watched movies together and cursed her boyfriend for not being there for her at the time she needed him the most. Over time, they had made it a ritual to watch movies whenever they felt sad and curse out whatever was bringing them pain at that moment.
"I get to pick the movie though."
Sheila groaned, "I don't want those soapy romance movies. Let's watch an action movie and your husband can be the villain. What do you think?"
She nodded, while Sheila picked out her favorite movie, which had also become hers – Commando. She laughed finding the tone strange to her ears. They had watched the movie countless times and Sheila never gets tired of re-watching it. She sat on her couch, after putting chocolates, sweets and biscuits on the chair for them. She turned off the light to get the cinema experience, and then they both went quiet. In every scene, she had something to say. She mimicked some of the characters; making bad impersonation and making her laugh, and let out a satisfying breath when Bennett died. "Bad things always happen to the villains."
"How do you feel now?" Sheila asked.
She smiled, "I think I feel okay. I'm ready to face whatever this is."
"So, what are you going to do about your husband? Are you going to divorce him?"
She shrugged, "I don't know. I think I will talk with him. I can't just give up on our marriage like that."
Sheila sighed, "But he is cheating on you. Do you think discussing with him will clear the issue you guys are having?"
"I know, Sheila. I know he is cheating on me, but what if it's a mistake? What if he is sorry? I won't know unless I discuss it with him. I want to make this work for us." She knew it wasn't a mistake, but there was a reason second chances were created. Jake might not have deserved it, but she was doing this for herself. She was going to be the bigger person.
Sheila nodded and hugged her again. "You are too kind for your good. I just hope you do whatever is going to make you happy, Mia. And don't forget, I am ready to kick asses with you if they are any to kick."
She laughed, "I know, Sheila. Thank you, so much."
She stood up getting ready to leave, when her phone rang. She pulled it out from her bag and frowned.
Sheila mouthed, 'Who?'
She turned the phone towards her. "Don't pick it? What does he want?" Sheila replicated the frown on her face.
She stared at the phone that stopped ringing in her hand. Soon, it started ringing again. "You know I have to pick it. He is my husband."
Sheila sighed, "Oh my God, I swear, he doesn't deserve you. Mia, you are too good for him. I hope you know that."
She smiled, "You are saying that because I am your friend. Jack wasn't always like this. This will pass, I am sure of it."
The phone started ringing in her hand again, and she raised it, "I think I have to go."
