Nick was surprised to see that the ecosystem of the island had developed into a perfect balance of large and small creatures as well as herbivores and carnivores. The colo colo served as the most abundant small prey item on the island while the snawfus were clearly the most abundant large prey item. There was also just enough carnivorous species on the island to keep the rapidly increasing populations of these two creatures from getting out of hand. This didn't even consider the sea faring creatures that lived near the island due to the leyline node under it.-
That little detail certainly hadn't escaped Nick's notice when he arrived but just chose to ignore it since what self respecting wizard wouldn't want a leyline node to themselves along with all the abundant mana that comes with it. The mana levels weren't at the same level as Hogwarts that was not only on a leyline nexus but had slowly been absorbing the excess magical energy of it's students for the last thousand years but they were still far greater than in diagon alley. It was also this exact reason that these different species from all over the globe had adapted to the climate of the island without dying off.-
Thanks to the ample mana they were able to evolve faster than normal by using wild magic over time. Wild magic was unfortunately only available to magical creatures but wizards had learned how to imitate it's effects via druidic spells at one point in time but the process was lost at some point. Nick knew this because he had at one point searched for the stuff in the Hogwarts library but apparently the practice was passed from master to apprentice and was never written down so after history did it's thing all practitioners died off without successors taking all that knowledge with them.-
Nick had cursed the fools when he learned this since it was stupid to have an entire field of magic vanish because of tradition. Tradition was supposed to preserve history and knowledge yet in this case it doomed it. Shaking his head to clear away these distracting thoughts Nick looked at the manor and it's surroundings as well as the path to the carriage. 'About twenty feet around the building and widening the path to the carriage about ten feet on each side should do perfectly.' he decided before flying back down to in front of the manor.-
Olivander was waiting rather impatiently for him when he finally touched down on the ground. "As momentous an occasion as visiting the ancient home of Rowena Ravenclaw is , I want to begin my experiments with these feathers as soon as possible." the old man said honestly. Nick chuckled at this "That won't be much of a problem since at the moment I lack the time to renovate the place at the moment." he said before calling Dotty , Seram and Helena over to him.-
The house elf appeared immediately while the other two took a couple of minutes to arrive since they had wondered off. The ho-ho also showed up but since it didn't have a name Nick couldn't exactly call it anyways so this worked. First he took out all the lembas bread he had in Greed and handed it over to Seram. "We will be leaving for a while so I will leave all this with you to keep you full as you seem to have the whole guardian of the island thing perfectly in hand." he said and the manticore merely chortled and took the nine and a half loaves from him.-
Looking at the bird Nick hesitated for a moment as depending on his next action things may get strange back in diagon alley , well stranger anyways. "I don't know why you've stayed on this island this whole time but if you want to I can bring you with me to Hogwarts where there is a phoenix I'm sure you'll get along with great." Nick offered and the bird looked thoughtful for a moment before nodding and flying high into the air in such a way that the sun was behind it.-
Before Nick could express his confusion at this the bird literally shimmered away into a small ball of golden light that fell to the earth before vanishing revealing a small bird with puffy black and red feathers and three peacock like crown feathers on it's head and tail. "So that's what the rebirth of a ho-ho looks like , not as violent as the other two immortal birds at all rather it's almost gentle." Olivander said fascinated while Nick picked up the small bird and comfortably settled it on his shoulder. After that Nick had Dotty apparate each of the leaving party back to the wand shop where Olivander immediately locked himself away in the workshop much to Nicks amusement.
