บท 82: Talk With Olvia

The starry sky was a blanket of shimmering diamonds against the backdrop of the dark, infinite abyss. The Kuja ship, anchored securely at the shore, rocked gently to the rhythm of the sea's heartbeat. Jack, seated alone on the deck, observed the celestial panorama unfold before him, the silence of the night enveloping him in its tranquil embrace.

A cool night breeze ruffled his hair, carrying whispers of the wild and tales of the sea. His icy-blue eyes, mirrors of the calm ocean, reflected the glittering night sky as he contemplated his actions.

Earlier, he had caught a World Noble and had made his intentions clear: there would be retribution. And yet, as much as the World Noble deserved it, Jack knew he had to tread carefully.

His family was his priority, and if the World Noble's death could be traced back to him, he would rather vanish from the face of the earth. Jack was fearless, the thought of Marine or the World Government didn't make him bat an eye. But his family... he was unyielding in his resolve to keep them safe.

He was lost in his thoughts when he sensed two life sources approaching him from the shore. The soft lapping of the waves against the hull masked the approaching footsteps, but he knew who they were. He had spent enough time with them to recognize their presence. He stayed where he was, awaiting their arrival.

Soon, Olvia appeared from the darkness, holding a small, sleepy figure in her arms. Her eyes were weary, but a soft smile adorned her lips. The sight of Robin, her tiny form cradled safely in Olvia's arms, brought a faint smile to Jack's face. Robin's red-rimmed eyes fluttered open as the soft light from the ship illuminated her face. A tiny giggle bubbled from her lips as she caught sight of Jack, her chubby fingers reaching out to him.

"She is not sleeping without you. Kept making a fuss, so I had to bring her. Sorry, if we disturbed you," Olvia apologized, her gaze falling on the peaceful scene before them. Jack's quiet moment, the solitude he seemed to be enjoying, she felt guilty for intruding.

However, Jack waved away her apology, his icy-blue eyes softening as he took Robin from her arms. As he held her close, a warmth spread through him, washing away his earlier contemplation. The subtle tension that was knitting his brows smoothed away as he hugged Robin to his chest, her soft breaths rhythmically caressing his skin.

"Daddy, Daddy," Robin cooed in her tired voice, giggling against Jack's chest. Her little fingers found their way to her mouth, as she began to suck on them, her eyelids starting to droop.

"You are never a disturbance to me, Olvia," Jack assured her, his gaze shifting from the slumbering Robin to Olvia. His voice was low and comforting, his words spoken with the utmost sincerity. "Neither you nor Robin. Don't ever forget that."

His gaze held Olvia's for a moment longer, his icy-blue eyes reflecting the sincerity of his words. As he spoke, Robin snuggled closer to him, the warmth of his body lulling her into sleep.

The night was silent once again. The only sounds were the rhythmic lullaby of the sea, and the soft breathing of the sleeping child against his chest. His gaze returned to the twinkling stars above, the sight bringing him a sense of peace.

"How are they treating you on the island?" Jack asked, his voice low and steady in the quiet night. His eyes, a tranquil icy-blue, remained fixed on the twinkling stars above. Robin was now in a deep sleep, her soft breaths rhythmically caressing his skin. He removed his jacket and wrapped it gently around the slumbering child, his touch as delicate as the night breeze rustling the ship's sails.

Olvia watched him with a soft gaze, her heart touched by his gentle care for her daughter. Jack was always most welcoming and caring since the day she and Robin had joined his unusual family. He treated Robin no different than his own daughter, Aria, for which Olvia was incredibly grateful.

Robin needed a father figure in her life, and Jack had been more than willing to step into that role. His icy-blue eyes, reflecting the soft moonlight, were filled with a warmth only his family could evoke as he held the slumbering child in his arms.

"How are they treating you on the island?" he asked Olvia again, his voice low and tranquil, matching the serenity of the night.

The question drew Olvia out of her quiet reverie. She turned to face him, her gaze meeting his calm, expectant one. "They treat us very good. They are really thankful to you," she said, her voice soft and filled with genuine gratitude. His care for them hadn't wavered once since they became part of his unconventional family.

Jack released a soft chuckle at her words. "That is why I am here alone," he joked, his smirk revealing his amusement. The women were allowed to reside on Amazon Lily, an island notoriously closed to men, but at least they were being treated well.

Olvia's smile widened at his joke, her laughter rippling through the quiet night like a gentle melody. His light-hearted attitude, despite their peculiar situation, was one of the things she appreciated about him.

"And how are you?" Jack inquired, his gaze now steady on Olvia. "It has been a while, but do you have any problems? The island in my body can be boring at times."

His concern was evident, even though his tone remained casual. His icy-blue eyes were fixed on her, reflecting the soft moonlight, waiting for her response.

Olvia giggled at his question. She wasn't bothered by the isolation. In fact, the peace was a pleasant change from the hectic life she used to lead. "You have one of the largest libraries I've ever seen," she replied, her eyes twinkling with excitement. "It can never be boring."

Jack's lips quirked up in response, the faint moonlight catching the amusement in his eyes. He had to agree; his library was quite impressive, a treasure trove for anyone with a thirst for knowledge.

"Jack, I am thankful for everything you have done for me, and for Robin." Olvia's voice broke through the tranquility of the night, her words carrying a heartfelt sincerity.

His icy-blue eyes shifted from the infinite expanse of the night sky to rest on her. He said nothing, but his silence was not dismissive, rather a quiet acknowledgement of her words. His gaze was calm, steady, as he listened to her speak.

"I was ready to leave her behind with my brother for my quest. At that time, I was grief-stricken, and blind to see that my sister-in-law didn't want Robin, and my brother was a wimp. If I had left Robin with them, I'm sure she would have suffered."

Her voice wavered slightly as she spoke. The thought of her daughter in the hands of uncaring individuals caused a shiver of fear to course through her. She looked at Robin, now soundly asleep in Jack's arms, and her heart ached at the mere thought of such a reality.

Jack shook his head dismissively, his icy-blue eyes softening as he met her gaze. "You don't need to thank me, Olvia. It was nothing."

His words were spoken with a sense of certainty, a matter-of-factness that left no room for argument. Olvia looked at him, a gentle smile playing on her lips. She didn't need to voice her gratitude again; her eyes said it all. In the moonlit silence of the night, words seemed almost unnecessary.
