บท 1: Chapter 1: Omnitrix
It's weird how everything coupd suddenly change out of nowhere. Your whole reality suddenly subverts into something you could have never possibly thought it would be.
It's is said that sometimes reality is stranger than fiction. A statement often used when odd or unbelievable even happen. When something simillar happened to Alex however, he thought differently.
"Is this reality or fiction?"
The bench he sat on was clearly real, and the park right in front of him seemed to be too. Although unfamiliar, the environment seemed as real as it could possibly get.
It was when his arms touched his chest that he questioned. For what he felt on his chest was not the usual indent between his chest muscles, but an odd glowing circle made of metal.
When he peeked into his shirt and looked at the thing, the familiar sign on it made him sigh.
"So you are saying, I am in another world?"
[Yes.]
For a moment, Alex had wondered whether this was a prank dream or what? However, after a few hours of living this reality, he was forced to believe it was real. And when he thought about it, there was no way this was a prank. For one, he didn't have friends willing to do that to him. And secondly, no big TV show would go so far to prank someon as simple as him.
As they would not only have to fly him all the way from Africa to America, they would also have to somehow install this seemingly irremovable disk onto his chest, but also make a voice be heard in his head. The impossible feat of making the inner voice aside, in order to achieve the 90s look he was seeing, millions of dollars would have to be spent while even more money would be needed to hire all these actors.
So clearly, this was no prank.
However still, he found the reality too simillar to fiction. The biggest reason being the fact that what was on his chest was clearly something that coupd not he real.
"And you are the Omnitrix."
[Yes.]
"Then why are you blue."
[I was created as such, traveler.]
"Who created you?"
[The first traveler]
"So does that mean I could be able to transform into ten aliens or something?"
[Yes, however, other than your original body, there is no other data body stored within the data base. As of such, it is not possible.]
"Why's that."
[All of the Omnitrix's data have been deleted. There is no information as to why, however, new protocols have been made to protect against such that happening again.]
"So you are useless?"
[The traveler can aquire the forms should he wish to.]
"How?"
[The traveler can use the scanning function.]
"The omnitrix in the Ben ten series did have something like that." Alex said. "So does that mean I cam scan that pigeon in front of me."
[Yes. Would you like to begin the scanning function?]
"Yes."
[Which type of scanning function would you like to use, basic scan or deep scan?]
"Is there a difference?"
[Basic scan can only capture the basic genetics of structure of an item. Such a scan is usually harmless to the beings scanned. However, such a scan can take longer than the deep scan.
Deeps scan on the other hand is more thorough. If is a living being, it can even scan the being's memories and experience. This can is much quicker than the basic scan. However, it can be harmful and sometimes fatal to living beings.]
"Well... he use the basic scan."
Alex was not interested in seeing a cooked pigeon right in front of him after all.
[Please remove all obstructions from the Omnitrix.]
Alex pulled down his T-shirt and bright blue light shone from his chest up to the poor pigeon on the ground.
Seeing the bright light, Alex panicked and covered the Omnitrix. After all, there was still a few people looking right at him. So such a bright spectacle could bring their attention. Truthfully, Alex was a bit excited at what was currently happening to him. A part of him however had made him calm down. As at such a point when he knew basically nothing, being cautious was very important.
Because one mistake could possibly land him in an operating table with multiple scientists cutting him open. It was already weird enough for him to have talk to himslef for an hour straight. Flashing weird lights would get him unwanted attention.q
In fact, he could already see some random woman pull out her phone.
As such, Alex ended up leaving the park and walking around the large city. That is until he finally found a seemingly vacant alleway.
He was now away from public eyes, however, he now came to a certain problem.
"What am I supposed to scan in this place?"
He looked around the large dumpster, hoping to find some stray cat or something to scan. As unlike the Ben ten show, it seemed like his weird chest Omnitrix could scan anything. Aline or not, as long as it is alive.
However, he did not find said stray cat. What he did find however was a dead rat.
"Does that count as a scalable object."
[Yes]
"Sefiously?" Alex was suprised. "Won't I turn into a dead rat?"
[If the traveler wishes, the omnitrix can crat a living copy should the subjects genes be close enough to the traveler's body.]
"So not everything has to be alive?"
[To a certain extent as long as the genes have not been completely destroyed or there is a sample close enough to the subject. A deep scan would increase the likelyhood of success.]
"I'm not so sure how much my genes compare to a rat though."
But since there was no other thing around, there was no harm in actually scanning the creature. So...
"Omnotrix, deep scan the dead rat."
As such, a blue beam of what seemed like a Lazer attack went towards the rat. Alex instantly started hearing "rttrtr" sounds. Something that seemed like the sound electricity makes when in contact with living beings.
After a few seconds, the scan was done. However, the rat dis not look so good. As it was carried all over and even stankjust a lottle bit.
"Well I'm never using that on a living being."
[Scan complete. Restructuring genes to fit the traveler's wishes....]
[Restructure complete. Plausible data acquired.]
[Creating new body...]
[Creation complete. New form acquired. Would you like to name the aquired form?]
Suddenly a bright flash shone from his chest. It didn't at first make sense what it was, but when he pulled down his shirt, the light turned into a hologram of a rat.
"Does that mean i can now transform?"
[Yes.]
"And I won't turn into a dead rat?"
[The copied body is currently living]
"Transform me then."
After those words came from his mouth, his whole body flashed in blue light. However, it was at that moment that someone suddenly opened the door towards the building next door.
What greeted his suddenly flashed eyes was however not the human Alex, but a small gray ray with a metallic circle behind his back. The rat was startled by the door opening. So it looked at the man and the man looked at rat. For a shot few seconds, the two looked at each other. That is until the man broke the silence.
"I fucking knew it, thise government bastartds are spying on us!" The man shouted. "Erney, come see this, and bring your camera!"
Upon hearing that, the rat immedietly ran away. Like the Nibley creature it was, it traveled through many small crevices until it could no longer be see.
By the time the man named Erney arrived, it was already gone.
"What is it," Eeney asked.
"It was here. A fat rat with a giant camera on its back! I've been telling you, these governments have been spying on us all along."
The man named Erney looked at the dead rat in the dumpster.
"Jamey are you on crack again?"
"I swear man, I saw that thing with ma own two eyes."
"You gotta stop watching the history Channel after 12 am man. That shit ain't real."
"But I..."
"Get inside!"
Whilst those two were arguing about, a certain rat watched them from afar.
