All the while, the two armies observed each other, with the Luccanian garrison taunting the Pisan-Genoese army there.

The Pisan-Genoese army's patience and resolve were put to the test as the Luccanian garrison continuously made fun of and ridiculed them. The Pisan-Genoese soldiers maintained their vigilance because they understood that it was their duty to protect the army's rear while also putting up a strong front against any potential attacks from the Luccanian garrison. Their resolve to defend their teammates and make sure that their mission was successful was only strengthened by the continuous taunting.
