บท 34: Snow
We were abruptly woken up by an incredibly startlingly cold sting on our unconscious bodies, which immediately woke us up, and instinctively cuddled up against each other, we also coiled our tails around our bodies.
"W-W-W-Whe-Where a-a-are w-w-we?" Shirayaa asked in fear while she shivered from the extremely low temperatures.
"I-I-I-I d-d-don't k-k-know." I replied, also shivering in the extreme temperatures that were the complete opposite of what I was used to.
I looked around but all I saw was a blizzard that limited my vision by a lot, like I could barely see a few meters in front of me.
Wanting to combat the cold, I summoned some fire but it was snuffed out instantly due to the freezing cold temperatures that were slowly turning me and Shirayaa into ice sculptures.
Then, Shirayaa used her earth magic to conjure a dome of dirt around her, at least, she tried to, but the snow beneath us had frozen over the ground, preventing her magic from reaching us as it was being stopped.
Despair took hold of both of us as the thought of dying here in this icy wasteland dug its way into our minds.
We kept holding one another tightly as we wrapped our tails around the other, trying to stave of as much of the cold as we could, but it seemed futile as the freezing winds just ignored this and went straight into our bodies.
"W-W-W-We sh-sh-should f-f-f-f-find a p-p-place t-t-t-to r-rest." I managed to say through my clattering teeth.
"H-H-How a-are w-w-we m-m-meant t-t-t-t-to f-f-find o-o-one?" She asked through her own teeth that clattered more than my own.
I racked my brain, thinking of how we would be able to escape from this hell scape of what seemed to be an eternal winter.
The only thing I could think of, was using my fire magic, but the amount of mana that I'd have to use would be too much compared to how much I have, and in this environment, my mana regeneration rates are much, much lower than the desert or that temple.
Although it should be a last resort, we don't exactly have time to think of anything else.
I then tried to think of ways to properly utilise my fire magic in this circumstance. Then the idea to blast a continuous beam of fire appeared in my head.
We didn't have much time to come up with anything else, so I gathered my mana in my hand and fired, but instead of letting it go in one short burst, I kept supplying the magic with mana, leading to it becoming a fire beam.

Oh nice, this'll help out a lot.
Using this new skill helped decrease the consumption of mana and increase the potency of my fire by a tad.
With this newfound ability, I was able to spot the vague outline of a stone surface.
"Th-Th-Th-There!" I shouted, looking towards the supposedly rocky surface I saw, whilst beginning to drag my companion in that direction.
We trudged through the thick blizzard slowly, our weight pushing us down into the snow bed.
We managed to reach the stone surface and Shirayaa used her earth magic to carve out a clearing for us to rest in for now.

Once that was done, she then quickly put up a wall at the entrance with a few holes as thick as our tails, just so we would have access to air for breathing, and so that the holes wouldn't freeze over and make us suffocate ourselves to death.
I then made a fire using my mana and it thankfully didn't get put out immediately this time, but it was still very weak and didn't really provide much heat, but it was better than nothing at this point.
We warmed ourselves up as much as possible before we huddled up together in an attempt to retain the heat that we had managed to generate around the fire that I had now put out.
Still shaking slightly, I asked, "W-What should we do now?"
"I-I don't k-know." She replied. "I-I feel tired after that, I-I just want to go to sleep." She continued drowsily.
I understood what she felt as I felt the same. This was our natural instinct to go into hibernation, but I knew that if we did that, we wouldn't survive.
Gathering what little strength I had left I managed to send a slap to Shirayaa's face, waking her up. I, of course, was then immediately given a slap back.
"What was that for!" She screeched irritated and slightly annoyed.
"You know we wouldn't survive if we went into hibernation. I just woke you up so that you wouldn't go into hibernation and also slap me so I wouldn't do the same." I replied.
"Hmph!" She pouted and crossed her arms, looking away from me. It was adorable so I kissed her on the cheek, which flustered her, making her face turn red.
She then started to squeal, not knowing how to respond to the kiss. Normally she would just smile and return the kiss but this is the worst situation to give and receive a kiss, which makes it the best time to give a kiss, because she just looks so adorable when she gets flustered like this.
After she calmed down a bit, she looked at me with an aggrieved expression on her face and tears threatening to burst out of her eyes.
I raised my arms up and wide, inviting her in for a hug, which she accepted. I just realised that our roles are reversed, normally it's her calming me down, not the other way round.
After hugging for a bit, she had gotten her emotions in check, but didn't let go, clearly scared at the situation we were in. I was too, but something inside of me basically took control of me and gave me this courage.
"What are we going to do now?" She asked, her voice no longer stuttering as we had both warmed up enough to the point where we wouldn't falter in our speech.
"I don't know, I really don't know. But I'm sure we'll think of something." I replied with a slightly despondent tone, but she didn't seem to notice.
"I'm sure we will, and when we do, I want to start a life with you." She said with a firm conviction in her voice.
"W-What?" I stuttered, not from the cold this time but from shock at her proposal.
She pulled back from me saying, "You heard me, I want to start a proper life with you, no more running around and getting into trouble like little kids anymore, not if this is the kind of situation we'd end up in constantly. I don't want to do 'this' anymore as it very well could end up claiming one our lives one day, maybe both. If giving up our adventures means I get to live with you for the rest of my life, then I'd be happy to die early."
My eyes started to get wet and blurry at her words and my emotions began to overflow at her sudden promise. I pulled her back into a hug and began to cry on her shoulder, before giving her my answer.
"O-Of course! I'd love it!" I didn't know what else to say as I was too full of emotions to properly give a response so I just gave it in the form of some truly sincere words.
Shortly after my waterworks had stopped' we pulled back a little, staring into each other's eyes that were filled with pure love.
We smashed our lips together and almost immediately invaded each others mouth's with our tongues, eliciting hot moans from the both of us.
This was going to be a very enjoyable ride with our emotional high.

Wyvers Hello, middle of the week but hey you got another chapter, woohoo! Anyways just want to say thanks to everyone who’s been here from the beginning including “OneshoreMemory” with their constant support through power stones.
Please let me know your thoughts in the comments as I’d love to hear them, it’ll help me make the novel better and help me be a bit more motivated to write just a bit faster, maybe enough to get three chapters a week consistently.
