Grace’s POV

The ceremony when off without a hitch – so to speak.

We held it on the new piece of land that we’d just bought. And the ceremony itself wasn’t much to write home about either. There was a prick to my finger and a drop of blood was let into a bowl. A,s alpha I promised to always care for, guide, and protect anyone under my rule. In turn, the pack and coven swore their loyalty to me. Chris, as the oldest member of the pack, recited some ritualistic words – something along the lines of “break it and it will end badly for you”. It wasn’t until he was done talking that the blood caught fire and the ashes scattered around the pack. Stunned, people gasped and looked at me, as if I had something to do with it. One glance at Jack and I realized that this normally didn’t happen, and I awkwardly exclaimed:

“It wasn’t me!”

Murmurs broke out among the pack and coven; some gave me a skeptical expression, some were in awe and others cast their gaze to the ground in fear.
