Ryder is still investigating the glowing red light emanating from Lawrence's petrified body, trying to find any similarities between the light and the red orb from which he absorbed his powers. Meanwhile, Zoe is keeping watch over the area, ensuring that there are no threats to the group's safety, including Mary who is currently engaged in a fight for her life.
Vincent is trying to command Mary to retrieve petrified Lawrence through their walkie-talkie, but Mary is ignoring him. She is a level 3 zombie and knows that she stands no chance against Zoe, who is a level 4 zombie. Mary is worried about her own safety and doesn't want to risk her life for Lawrence. Vincent repeats his commands several times but eventually gives up, deciding to go and retrieve Lawrence himself.
Vincent has mastered his mutated gun to perfection, and he turns Buddy, his mutated gun, into a giant sword. He stands on the sword and flies towards Mary, as there isn't enough time to prepare a whole team to deal with Luna, Ryder, and Zoe all at once. While Vincent is on his way, Zoe becomes agitated and attacks Mary, slashing her left and right.
The fight between Mary and Zoe has been going on for 10 minutes, and Mary is on the brink of death. However, she suddenly starts evolving into a level 4 zombie, which catches Ryder's attention. Ryder dashes towards Mary and punches her, causing her to stop evolving and throw up blood. The blood that falls on the ground spells out "Blessing of Dr. Death." Mary remembers reading a newspaper when she was 16 about the death of a serial killer named Harold Shipman, also known as "Dr. Death," who killed around 250 patients when he was working as a doctor.
After receiving the blessing, Mary has a strong urge to bathe in blood and starts attacking Ryder, who had punched her earlier. Vincent finally arrives 15 minutes after Mary and Zoe started fighting. He turns Buddy into a sniper rifle and shoots Ryder in the stomach since he seems to be more of a threat. Vincent then starts fighting Zoe, who is a formidable opponent.
Ryder is about to faint, but Mary heals him and starts torturing him after he runs out of energy and can no longer fight. Mary's thirst for blood after receiving Dr. Death's blessing has turned into a curse as Mary who wanted to save as many lives as possible now becomes blood thirsty whenever she sees blood, so now instead of healing an injured patient she would just end up killing them
