บท 434: House Arrest
"Can't I go out?"

Ryker groan, thinking to himself, 'house arrest sucked,'. Considering it is the second time he was under house arrest, he should able to handle it. Except, his current house arrest had him stay in the mansion, from the day he was saved, to the day of the tournament.
Considering how he was the target, and how the others would likely try something; even if the King and Grand Duke made rules of it, the others would try to find loophole, so, it is just better to have him inside the mansion, where someone would be able to keep an eye on him.
Unfortunately, that someone is Collete Birak, the sister of the King and Grand Duke, and Lariz, Dory, and Brya, and she is the one that enforce the house arrest.
So, there is no way he would be able to escape. And so, Ryker had to remain contend staying in the mansion, healing and cultivating.

"Don't you think your father, and aunt is a tad bit overprotective?" Ryker asked Lariz. The Crown Prince looked at him with deadpanned eyes.
"Ryker, you take dangerous missions, all of which get you to fight Spirit Beast equivalent to 1st and 2nd Stage Noble expert, and you still want more dangerous missions. And when you get one, you are ambushed by my brothers' force, along with members of a Noble House.
There is a good reason why my father insisted on the house arrest, and why my aunt is the one that enforced it," Ryker sighed. While he was glad for the save, it is still annoying to be forced in a house arrest.
"Can't I at least leave the mansion?" he asked, only to be disappointed when the Crown Prince shook his head.
"A week after this, yes, after the tournament over. By then, there will be no reason for them to attack you,'" while Ryker believed Lariz, he do think them did not involve the young master of Lugh Family.
"Why do your father so insistent on my safety?" it is one of the thing that bugging him, and he decided to clear it by learning the reason.
"My brother desire safety for the kingdom, and while the kingdom remained strong, having connections would make sure the kingdom remained safe, even if something happened to him and Lariz is still a Noble expert," a woman voice answered, Collete coming into view.
"Aunt, what do you mean by connection?" Lariz asked in confusion. As far as he knew, aside from some periphery vassal forces of the Kingdom, Ryker should not have any connection, at least that what he said.
"For now, yes. But in the future, that might change. After all, your father, uncle, myself, the old hag at the Craftsman Allience, and the old man at the Adventure Guild would offer you a recommendation to the Academy Union," she answered, looking at Ryker when she said 'you'.
"Academy Union. That make sense, but if it just the one here, then-"
"No, the academy in question is not here," Collete corrected her nephew.
"Then, where?" he asked, clearly confused.
"The Boluron Central University," this cause a reaction out of the Crown Prince, who seem to choke on air from the reveal.
"There," he manage to say after coughing out his throat. "Actually, that make more sense. With his talent..." he began to mumble.
At that moment, Ryker reminded them of his presence.
"Uhum, what are you planning behind my back?" he asked, his tone calm but does who knew him could tell he is slightly upset.
"We merely opened a path for you. With your talent, which surpass my brothers, nephews and nieces, you will likely be accepted to Boluron Grand University, which is located at the center of the continent, and said to possess one of the best cultivation places in the entire continent," she replied with a soft tone.
Hearing this, Ryker's brows arched as he asked another question, "and you are doing this, why?"
"For my family, like I said before, it is for the connection. For the old man, it the same thing, except there should be some other reason as well. For the old hag, it is to nurture a promising craftsman. If we able to rope the principle of Birak Spirit College, the man reason would be to gain more resources for his school," Collete answered, unperturbed by the accusing tone.
Ryker remained silent, mulling over the fact he just learned.
"So, you hoping, even if I don't come to the Kingdom, then you could use my name as a deterrent if a coalition or a more powerful kingdom would try to attack the Birak Kingdom?" he asked, though it is clear he already knew the answer.
The blonde woman had a small smile on his face as she nodded. Yes, that is what we are hoping for. While my brother is powerful, there is a lot more powerful people in the Boluron Continent. There are more powerful experts in the Western Region already.
And while Lariz and my other nephews and nieces are not weak, and they have great potential as well, without the necessary resource, it would be impossible for them to get any higher than One Palace Sovereign," she said, clearing some of his doubt with her answer.
Ryker thought it out some more before nodding. While he was still being used, in the end, it would benefit him, with no downside. So, he would be a fool if he tried to refuse because of something like pettiness.
"Sure, as long as the kingdom make sure my family remain safe," he said. While he want to bring them with him, it would be near impossible, as their talents should be beneath Brya and Dory, not to mention Lariz, and he was not consider to be a candidate to join the Boluron Central University.
"Of course. We will make sure their safety our top priority," she said. Ryker nodded before having some small talk with the two royals, learning more about the most famous university in the continent.

"Master, you seem to be troubled by something?" Ilun asked, Natali who was besides her nodded as well. The two are not wearing any clothes, just like him, resting after their intense session.
"Well-" he proceed to tell them of what he had discussed with two members of the royal family.
"I see," Ilun said, Natali unable to say anything due to shock.
"If that is the case, I think we can handle it," the blonde said with a smile. "Don't worry, Master, we are stronger than you thought of us," the two then shared a kiss, before Ryker did the same with Natali, curing her of her current absent-mindedness.
