บท 106: Chapter 32

Vlad III continued tirelessly fighting against Mash. However, to his great frustration, he couldn't inflict any injury on his agile opponent. Mash skillfully defended herself against Vlad III's attacks with her impenetrable shield, leaving him perplexed.

While Vlad III caught his breath, Mash took advantage of the opening to counterattack. Vlad III was determined not to be outdone by this girl, even though he was impressed by her defensive skills that seemed to nullify all his attacks. No matter how hard he tried, Vlad III could barely scratch the surface of his formidable adversary.

"I guess I'll have to end this once and for all. I don't want to fall behind Rémy," muttered Vlad III, feeling the pressure of the battle. He longed for the end of this clash, but he knew facing Mash wouldn't be an easy task.

As Vlad III gathered his energy, his eyes were drawn to something unusual. He looked in the direction where the two servants defeated by Rémy were and noticed smoke dissipating. With narrowed eyes, he tried to glimpse something beyond the clouds of smoke when he finally noticed something red within. Suddenly, a burst of flames erupted from the mist. Through the flames, Vlad III caught a glimpse of an impressive figure: a dragon with a serpentine body.

"Unbelievable! Rémy didn't destroy you?" exclaimed Vlad III, completely surprised. He would never have imagined that the servants Rémy had fought with would still be alive. However, Vlad III didn't have time to contemplate this revelation as he immediately leaped to escape the approaching fiery flames.

"Alright. Now I have to deal with two ladies. So be it," declared Vlad III, showing his unwavering determination. Although he wasn't prepared for this new challenge, he wouldn't retreat. If it was a battle that awaited him, then he would face it head-on.

"Correction! Three!" Elizabeth shouted, advancing against Vlad III with her spear. Caught off guard, he was taken by surprise and ended up being struck in the arm, the same arm that held his own spear. The throbbing pain ran through his body, but he didn't let it affect him.

"A noble lady like you needs to attack me stealthily?" Vlad III questioned, addressing Elizabeth.

"Yes. Since you're not paying attention to the battle, that's what happens," Elizabeth replied with a mischievous smile. She then moved her tail precisely, striking Vlad III directly in the face.

While Vlad III tried to recover from the blow, Mash, taking advantage of the distraction, launched herself towards him with surprising speed. Disoriented by Elizabeth's tail impact, Vlad III didn't have time to process Mash's assault.

"Kiyohime!" Mash shouted, drawing Kiyohime's attention to the opportunity. In a fluid motion, Kiyohime advanced against Vlad III with her shield, delivering a powerful push that sent him flying, right at Kiyohime's feet.

Kiyohime then opened her mouth, revealing blazing flames flickering within, like a living bonfire. With a deafening roar, she unleashed an intense jet of fire towards Vlad III, who had no time to react before being engulfed by the burning flames. The intense heat and unbearable pain consumed his body as he was swallowed by the inferno.

Only when Kiyohime ceased her powerful blaze did it become apparent that Vlad III was completely motionless and silent. He had succumbed to the fury of the fire, his lifeless body now lying on the ground.

Kiyohime, exhausted from the manifestation of her power, lowered herself, retracting her colossal body to rest briefly. The moment of rest was necessary to replenish the energy spent in the battle.

"He's gone... Are both of you alright?" Fujimaru asked, relieved. His concern extended to Kiyohime and Elizabeth, as both showed signs of exhaustion and damage after the confrontation.

"At least you have the awareness to ask if I'm okay. But let me ask you, do I look unwell?" Elizabeth inquired, with curiosity and a touch of arrogance. She refused to show weakness in front of commoners.

"Yes, you definitely don't look well," Fujimaru replied, being completely honest. He didn't follow the script that Elizabeth had envisioned in her mind, choosing to speak the truth instead of trying to please her with false words.

"Master! He's worried about me! I knew he was in love with me. Master, you're not alone. I'm also in love with you," declared Kiyohime, who had returned to her human form. Her voice was filled with passion and devotion, convinced that her master had reciprocated her feelings all along.

"..." Silence enveloped Fujimaru, leaving him embarrassed by Kiyohime's words. Before he could articulate a response, a deafening explosion interrupted the moment.

"That attack was at the other gate of Orleans. It must be Siegfried," Mash replied, her eyes fixed on Fujimaru, who nodded in agreement.

"Let's go there! Master, follow me!" Mash said, crouching down to make it easier for Fujimaru to climb onto her back.

"Wait for me, Master! Allow me to carry you on my back," Kiyohime exclaimed, her voice overflowing with desire as Fujimaru was already on Mash's back, ready to head towards the other gate.

"Peasants, what would they do without me?" lamented Elizabeth, disappointed with the situation. Determined not to be left behind, she hurried to catch up with them.

------------

Siegfried came across a servant in agony, fading rapidly.

"You were a formidable opponent. I hope that next time, we can fight together as allies," Siegfried said, full of admiration, addressing Sanson.

"So he couldn't stop you. Well, where is Jeanne?" a voice emerged, unmistakably Rémy's. Siegfried turned to him, intrigued by what Rémy had just said.

"I thought you were dead, considering Jeanne Alter's revolt against us," expressed Siegfried, relieved to have someone else to help in the battle against Jeanne Alter. However, he left Rémy's additional question unanswered.

"I appreciate your concern, but where is Jeanne? Has she already entered the city? It doesn't seem so, as the gate is still closed and wyverns hover in the sky," Rémy questioned, confused, as his eyes scanned the surroundings for any sign of her.

"She... She did what needed to be done. She sacrificed her own life to help me. She had a message for you. If you allow me, I will convey the words, perhaps not exactly as she spoke them, but the essence remains: even with the little time we shared, it was a wonderful experience. I wish for more moments alone with you," Siegfried spoke, word by word, carrying the weight of emotion.

"Again... This time, you beat me to it, not me. I also long for more time by your side. If possible, for eternity," Rémy replied, his sadness attempting to be concealed, but his facial features involuntarily giving him away. Upon hearing footsteps approaching them, both Siegfried and Rémy, Siegfried's voice filled with relief.

"Master!" Siegfried exclaimed, overflowing with happiness to see that the Master of Humanity was safe.

"Vlad III has been defeated, I see... Alright, you may proceed. I need to reflect," Rémy said, opening the gate and skillfully controlling the wyverns so they wouldn't attack Fujimaru and the group.

"What does this mean? Suddenly, you're on our side? I sense a trap in the air. And speaking of traps, I understand them very well. Don't think I've forgotten what you did to me," Elizabeth mocked, suspicious of Rémy's intentions.

"I wholeheartedly agree with the lizard dragon. We should not trust you, especially after what you've done, nearly ruining my marriage," Kiyohime exclaimed, her unwavering anger. Despite the wounds on her body, the burning love for her Master sustained her.

"Believe what you want. I'm withdrawing," Rémy said, displaying indifference as he walked away slowly, unaffected by the thoughts of others.

"Master, do you truly believe there are no traps?" Mash questioned, her doubts mixing with curiosity, eager for Fujimaru's opinion. Shifting his gaze from Rémy, Fujimaru responded confidently:

"I'm not sure, but I don't think he will lie. From my observations, he doesn't seem like a dishonest person."

"What naivety! How can you trust someone who just attacked us?" Elizabeth complained. However, she followed the group entering the gate of Orleans.
