"We are about to have company," Cael said. He clenched his teeth, turning towards the direction from where he sensed these auras.
Dieter and his group, moving fast towards Cael, with the maelstrom almost on their heels.
Cael was surprised that he hadn't felt Dieter's attention on himself before now. But after a moment of sensing out the enemies' exact positions and actions, he knew why this happened. Dieter was too busy helping the sled move faster to divine the way ahead.
"That arrogant human again," Astnar said, stepping away from the entrance to the ice shelter. "He ran out of luck, then. The maelstrom will destroy them all, and their bodies will be reclaimed by nature. As it should be."
Cael threw the jotun a sour look. That required him to raise his neck until it almost hurt, but after the days spent near the giants, Cael was used to this.
"Don't forget that you are allied with humans, too. Even myself. Count me as half a human."
What is on Cael's mind?..
