Cael couldn't remember the last time he felt as powerless as now. Never he imagined that something like this could happen. The Starspawn, enemies of his world and Cael himself, struck the most precious thing he had, and in the most devious way.
And Cael was only a few seconds too late. If only he wasn't angered by the words of these ejderha he killed, if only he didn't take revenge for Ginevra… He'd be in time to save her!
Where was the fault lying? In the ejderha that distracted Cael? In his own anger and carelessness? In the Starspawn? In bad luck?
Cael's gaze fell on Dante. The mage's eyes were locked on Ginevra, while his hands were hidden inside his wide sleeves.
Maybe the fault was in Dante. He was there, and he was powerful—but he didn't stop Ginevra from being possessed. Was it intentional?
That poison wouldn't have worked on Cael any more than a normal not magic-blocking poison... After all, System doesn't use HIS mana, it's a construct much like a Starspawn.
