"A duel? A fair duel?" Cael asked incredulously. Despite Dante's generous invitation, he still didn't move from the spot. "In a field you prepared yourself? Where's fairness in this?"
Dante shrugged. "How do we even define fairness? If one opponent is more used to attacking directly, and another prefers to prepare before combat and draw plans—would it be fair for the second person to make a duel out of blue?"
Cael inclined his head to the side slightly. These words rang of a certain truth—which didn't mean that Cael agreed with the situation they were used in.
"This doesn't give you a right to use a hostage, Dante!"
"Oh, it's first names now? Fine, I will call you Cael, then. We actually shared the same woman… Shouldn't that make us friends?" Dante mused.
The mage was pissing Cael off, and he was sure that this was his goal. But Cael had to keep his head cool… just like before.
