Janus's eyes widened in fear. He didn't look as terrified even when Cael shackled him in the ice as when Cael put away the bloody handkerchief.
With a snap of his fingers, Cael turned the icy prison back into mana. Without its support, Janus fell powerlessly on his knees.
"This is against the law," he only muttered at first. Then his voice rose in strength. "It's against the law to threaten another vampire with a blood curse!"
"I'm sure that it's also against the law to send a fellow vampire to their death," Cael countered. "Just like it's against the law to harm a guest. I'm currently both a guest in your Court, and a vampire. Your protests, Janus, are absolutely pitiful at this point. If you can't comprehend things like honor, then at least understand the consequences of trying to bite what you can't chew."
