All that, and Cael barely spent a quarter of his mana. He really WAS somewhere on the bottom of the fourth rank now, to use third rank spells so freely.
But this was no time for introspection. While the jellyfish he and Tarek were on moved, Cael read another spell.
"<Crimson river, your master commands! Flow from the veins of the unworthy, give up their life!>"
The kraken's blood was hard to grab onto because of how diluted it was by the surrounding water. But there was still a lot of the precious liquid inside the titanic beast, and Cael tugged onto that.
The creature's mana offered less resistance than Cael expected, and the blue blood flowed eagerly towards him. It gathered into a small, dense globe on his palm. Cael clenched his fist, consuming it.
Monstrous size has no intrinsic merit, unless inordinate exsanguination be considered a virtue.
