"Where is it you would like to go?" Lex asked me a little stiffly. Was he trying to get out of this already? Did he not want to go with me? 

"It's a bit of a surprise. If you don't mind, can you come with me?" I smiled and tried my best to set his thoughts and fears to rest. 

"I am not opposed to accompanying you where you wish to go, Talia, but is there a reason you must do this now?" He tilted his head as he spoke, like he was confused about my evasiveness.

"Is there a reason you started pulling away from me and speaking to me like I was a stranger?" I asked him, starting to get frustrated at how he was responding to me. "I just wanted to do something, I'm sorry for bringing it up."
