There was another short silence that pressed between us. Neither of us knew what to say next. And whenever we did look at each other, we would almost instantly look away in embarrassment. Was this a normal step in the whole mating process? Or was this unique to us?

"So, uhm, W..Westin?" Rika finally spoke haltingly, she was nervous, and so was I. "Wh..where do we go from here? What happens now?"

"Well, I don't know." I looked her in the eyes as best as I could, which wasn't that much apparently. "I know that you are in a relationship with that Vampire. And I do not want to step on anyone's toes. If you want to be with him for the time being, I will take a step back and let you do as you please. It would do me no good to force you into something that you do not want."

"I am not in a relationship with Andre." She spoke vehemently.
