บท 44: CHAPTER 43 - DO I LOOK WEAK TO YOU?

"Yes, I train with my grandmother. She was the best female sword fighter and is also currently the leader of our coven. She teaches me how to blend my sword fighting with my witch powers..." She answered him.

"Why does your brother not train with you, if she could teach sword fighting..." Nate asked again.

"She tried, but it was dangerous. My brother didn't inherit the witch gene. Only I did. Every time we trained, my emotions would sometimes burst out and I'll lose control of my powers. My grandmother could shield herself, but my brother couldn't. I end up hurting my brother and making him feel useless. So my grandmother suggested he trained with ordinary people..." Diana said, looking guilty.

"Does your grandmother mean your brother is just ordinary? Just because he doesn't have the witch powers..." Lucian asked, causing Diana to look back at him and sigh...

"Well... I can't blame her, things have become a little complicated. The life forces of the witches are starting to drain. And soon the existence of humans might also go extinct..." Diana said, causing the two boys to furrow their brows.

"What is that supposed to mean?" Nate asked seriously.

Diana pursed her lips, she was spilling too much...

"Diana, what does that mean?" Lucian asked firmly.

Diana sighed, here comes the order. And he even mentioned her name. She had a weird feeling she couldn't explain. She also didn't know why, but it felt as if Lucian held more command than her grandmother, the coven leader. It felt so right to tell him everything.

"Well... Am not supposed to say this...and humans know nothing about this, but somehow I know you're not normal. The thing is, the god realm now, is without a supreme... My grandmother said every ten thousand years a supreme is born. It's been ten thousand years since the last supreme, and there's still no sign of a new one..." Diana said seriously.

"The god realm?? So gods truly exist..." Nate asked with skepticism.

"They do, and because they exist, we also exist. They are the strongest, and overseers of all races... Though the demon race keeps challenging them, they are still firm. Without their supreme, new gods cannot be born. The old gods can only depend on the remaining life force, which cannot be replenished without a supreme... Now you get why our existence is at risk?..." Diana said, hoping she had made enough sense.

Lucian furrowed his brows, somehow he felt uncomfortable. Was this why he constantly felt changes in the life forces around him?

"You said the demon race keeps challenging them, without a supreme, does that mean they are bound to defeat the god race and take over the world?" Nate asked, he couldn't believe there were so many things they were ignorant of.

"That would have been the case if they had also had a devil..." Diana answered.

"They need a devil?" Nate asked again, his expression saying how unbelievable this whole thing sounded.

"Just like the god race has a supreme, the demon race has a devil which according to my grandmother is also not in or born. I don't know. And this situation is something that has never happened before... Honestly, we're glad the devil is not born, at least the world can be without evil..." Diana said with relief. No one liked the mention or appearance of a devil.

Listening to what Diana had just said, Lucian felt even more uncomfortable and somehow furious. Somehow he felt like he had been treated unfairly without knowing the reason why.

"Why do you think the world would be without evil if the devil no longer exist? You said there's currently no devil, but the world is still full of evil. Your brother was just bullied badly. Tell me how that happened without a devil?..." Lucian asked. His voice had anger and authority in it making both Nate and Diana tremble out of fear. Especially Diana, since the question was directed toward her.

Diana felt scared, almost dropping to her knees. What the hell? How did she offend him??

"Ouch, Lucian my feet..." Nate suddenly exclaimed. He had intentionally hit his feet against a rock. He knew Lucian cared about him. Only by doing this will it divert his attention from the obviously ' weird topic' they were discussing and it worked. Lucian turned to him worried, and that changed his initially devil-looking state to a human-looking one.

"Am okay, I slammed my feet against a rock..." Nate said with a grin. And Lucian realized he must have done that to divert his attention. He suddenly felt grateful. What was wrong with him? Why did he suddenly become so furious? He must have scared the girl. And true to that, Diana still stood frightened...

Turning to her, he saw the tremendous fear in her soul. The very thing he hated. He disliked it when people feared him this much, but he just made Diana feel that way.

"Am sorry..." That was all he could say. He didn't have any explanation as to why he reacted that way.

"Diana... People bully us every day. They don't even sell to us when we want to buy. They call us freaks. Lucian only reacted that way because of the unjust in this world. People can be their own devils..." Nate said, trying to prevent the girl from having any odd speculations about Lucian.

Hearing this, Diana finally calmed down and the fear was instantly replaced with sadness. She couldn't imagine being treated like how Lucian and Nate were being treated.

"I understand... I can be your friend. I won't treat you like how they do..." Diana said and smiled sheepishly.

"You already are..." Nate responded with a smile too. Just then, the rustling of leaves and unhurried footsteps could be heard in the woods, heading closer to them.

Nate and Lucian narrowed their eyes...

"Someone is coming..." Diana was the first to speak.

They all stood still and waited for the expected person or animal to show up. Then before them, a gentle but annoyed face showed up. He was human and had short black hair and facial features that looked similar to Diana's but older. His head was lowered and he seemed to be limping.

"Darian!" Diana called out wide-eyed as she rushed towards her brother.

Darian raised his head and looked at his sister and the two people he would never forget in confusion.

"Diana, why are you here...and with them. You have to stay away from them..." He said sternly

"B... But why? They are good guys, unlike the one who hurt you today..." Diana rebutted

Darian widened his eyes

"You were at the field??" he asked, looking rather angry.

"Yes, I caused that fire... He bullied you, Darian!

"I couldn't stand it..." Diana said, looking grieved. She knew her brother had asked her not to come to the field, but she couldn't help it. If there was anyone she cared about in their family, that would be her brother.

"Why do you always have to interfere? Do I look weak to you? Whatever...stay away from those two, if you don't want to be chastised..." After saying this, he dragged her along while still limping. Roland must have hurt him badly.
