Gustav stood in front of a glass display case, behind which lay baked goods. Loaves of bread the color of light golden brown, dark caramel and a brown so deep it was almost black seemed to smile invitingly at him. Plus, they smelled like nothing else in the world, enticing, aromatic, encouraging you to eat.
Gustav sighed. And supposedly how should he choose which one to buy?
"Am I seeing right?" he barely paid attention to the woman's voice behind his back. "Mr. Meiden?"
He twitched and looked over. The woman in front of him was about forty years old, not tall, thin, with very nice black hair and blue eyes. She looked very familiar, although he couldn't recall where he had met her. It was just that those eyes and that face....
"Mrs. Krosny?" he asked.
"Gosh, did you recognize me?"
"Of course! Such a beauty is hard to forget."
