บท 26: Murderous Intentions

In the palace hallways leading to the Wolf Queen's chambers, it was deafeningly silent; no guards or servants could be seen. Out of every palace, the Moonlight Palace, especially the Wolf Queen's room, was the most sacred one, and it held the most prominent barrier, so guards were not really needed.

At the moment, someone was silently striding on the palace walls, her steps were smooth and gentle, without any sound at all. With her silver long hair that freely danced with the wind with every casual step she took, her good mood never diminished.

Her gaze lingered, and she observed her surroundings as she passed by, as though she had never seen them during the night. The feeling of looking at them when she was only looking at them from Pure Zenesha's perspective was incomparable to when she was looking at them directly through her eyes directly.

Unknowingly, she reached her destination. She stopped and raised her head; it was the attendant's quarters. She only saw this place once, but it was enough for the direction to be engraved in her mind. After all, a lot of attendants were on her list, and remembering directions and the surroundings was one of the skills she mastered as an assassin.

Looking at the hallways that would lead to the rooms of the attendants, Zenesha narrowed her eyes darkly as they showed a dangerous glint. She laughed before sneakily going inside. Her first target was inside.

Zenesha's personal attendants had higher status than most servants in the palace; after all, they were tending personally to the Wolf Queen herself. So, their living quarters were in the sacred Moonlight Palace, even with their personal rooms, unlike normal attendants who lived with roommates of two or even more.

In one of the rooms of the attendants' quarters, like the emissary of the god of death, Zenesha appeared inside and stood right at the foot of the bed.

Her victim, who was still not aware, was still sleeping soundly. Like her personality, her sleeping posture was refined, and she was the type that wouldn't change positions from the time she slept until she woke up.

She observed the woman silently. The curtains were slightly skewed so that, within the darkness, some light from the outside could penetrate inside. As a result, the other half of Zenesha's face and figure were illuminated. Her left eye shone brightly, but due to her malicious intentions, her gaze would leave one shuddering in horror.

Only a few minutes later, the woman who was sleeping opened her eyes as though finally sensing someone's sinister gaze. She blinked her eyes, not quite awake yet. With half-lidded and sleepy eyes, she turned her head and looked in front of her, where someone was standing looking at her.

She became fully awake in an instant and sat in alarm, her heart pounding so hard due to being startled awake.

"Y-Your Majesty?" She voiced out, trembling. This was the first time Zenesha had seen her so distraught, unlike when she was in front of her and bravely pierced her arm to get blood from her.

Zenesha smiled gently, unbothered that the woman woke up, for which she even waited specifically. After all, revenge when the person wasn't conscious was meaningless, the thrill and satisfaction were not the same.

"Hello, Carina," Zenesha called softly, with her usual smile, but for some reason it didn't give off the same vibe to Carina, as an unusual chill shrouded her as she looked at the Queen she served and belittled.

There was something different with the Wolf Queen in front of her, no, the fact that she was in her room didn't make sense from the beginning.

"Y-Your Majesty... What are you doing here in my room? In the middle of the night?" Carina's words trembled at first before she recovered herself, but the confidence came back despite the chilling sensation that Zenesha gave her. It seemed the woman completely disregarded her status and thought she was the same pushover.

Zenesha shrugged, still smiling. One thing she learned was that smiling like this seemed to have the same annoying effect as well.

"Right, what am I doing here?" She furrowed her brows and took a step closer, "It's not my room." Zenesha purposely made her words and demeanor sound confused.

Carina's eyes brightened with understanding, ignoring the terrified feeling from this situation, her disrespectful persona kicked in.

"Are you lost?" arching a brow in disdain, "You can't even find your room without the help of the attendants? Pathetic."

At this, Zenesha wasn't offended, and her smile even deepened. She shook her head.

"I'm not lost." She paused and tilted her head before suddenly her expression changed and a devious smirk curled in her lips. Eyes flashed in the light. "I came here by myself."

Carina's confidence faded, and she looked astounded and in lingering fear once more at Zenesha. "Wh-What did you come here for?" She forcefully swallowed down the fear, but it was too intense this time, especially for the unknown. The Wolf Queen's action was truly abnormal, as though she were possessed.

If Zenesha could hear her thoughts, she would laugh at her face and tell her she was right!

This time, Zenesha giggled; it was soft and even pleasing to the ears, but in Carina's ears, it was pure horror.

"Of course, I came here..." Zenesha paused, and in a split second, she was already in front of Carina as she leaned her face into the terrified face of the woman, smiling gently, "To kill you."

Carina couldn't even scream, her voice seemed to become stuck in her throat and become mute in an instant. She also found out that she couldn't move her body, no matter what she did. Her eyes widened, already frightened to this point.

Zenesha looked at Carina's state. She grinned, pleased with the woman's terrified state.

She had only imagined this over and over again, and now it was finally happening. The killing intent in her grew, boiling her blood and making her extremely excited.

She touched Carina's jaw, observing her face. Just look at that beautiful, frightened face. She had longed for the whole three months to see her annoying face crumble.

Aside from the four spawns of hell, Carina was probably one of those she couldn't wait to kill. Her deviousness and wicked ways extremely offended her. Zenesha was also tortured before, so, what could a needle be for her?

That was the point—that one needle was so painful that it was like it was piercing her soul. And each time, she would pierce the needle too hard or a few times more. There was no way Zeesha would forgive her just like that, she was not that kind.

While caressing Carina's jaw, Zenesha spoke in a gentle manner, "Say, how do you want me to kill you, my dear Carina?"
