The soldier glanced at the boy with apprehension before answering, "Unfortunately, yes."

"...Then we won't be able to make it to Amelia's birthday," the little boy muttered sadly.

"Don't worry, Somir. I'll take care of this," Captain Roderick comforted the boy.

"What's your name, kid?" the Captain inquired.

"My name is Nevan, Captain," the soldier replied. "You must know my dad, he's a good friend of yours. His name is Waul."

"Waul... Wait, are you referring to Captain Waul of the Royal Guards?" Captain Roderick smiled. "You're Waul's son?"
