บท 304: A Devil's Promise

"You have changed." After opening his mouth many times and shutting it unceremoniously, Vincent settled for words that burnt his throat. "You have been kinder before." 

"Is it only kindness that you feel?" Her voice had mockery and hidden rage that made him flinch. 

"Of course, she begged for a long time. Offered a lot of things.. Even her kingdom as long as I side her. "He mounted the horse brought by the stableman and did not wait for her to climb on hers as he kicked his and rode on the trail made for their riding.

She followed behind sooner than he had expected. Her eyes searched for him coldly.

"Her captors would kill you before she could ever help you. She spells danger, Vincent." There was censure in her voice but he did not feel cowered. They were the exact words he had spelled for the woman and seen her disheartened face in return.

His grip on the reins tightened.
