As predicted, the cause of Old Madam Guan's absence was illness. The elderly woman was down with a fever, leading her to be unable to attend the charity auction as planned.

The information reached Talia and Liliana after they left Starcrown Plaza. Disappointment laced their feelings but, the cousins didn't let the negativity hinder their plan.

This was just an obstacle on the road.

"Do you feel sorry for them, Lili? For both Old Master Guan and his wife?" asked Talia that night.

They were chilling on the balcony after having dinner, enjoying a hot pot of tea and some light snacks. The cool autumn air didn't bother them as they were clad in thick clothes and throw blankets.

"Because they're old?" Liliana took a sip of the herbal tea, relieving the slight discomfort in her lower abdomen, "I feel bad sometimes but... what about Grandpa and Great-Grandpa?"

Old Master Guan and his wife were already very old and prone to illness.
