บท 502: Thoroughly Disappointed In His Parents

The tension among them reached its peak. Even the usually indifferent Esther appeared to be frightened by the current situation. 

Thomas averted his gaze elsewhere while Katherine lowered her chin. None of them dared to rebut Albert anymore, not when his calm voice only spoke the piercing truths.

Deanna pursed her lips. She took two steps forward, trying to stand in between her father and her uncle. Their fight this morning was not something that could be easily resolved but, she hated the feeling of being helpless.

"S-Second Uncle, that's enough. You've gone too far now. Instead of defending our family's prestige, you tried ruining it because of some lowly bastard. Apologize to my father."

Deanna's shaky voice broke the suffocating silence. Until the end, she stood by her father's side. All of her uncle's words were treated as slander.
