In the movie, director Christopher finally appeared. Facing the media who interviewed him, he triumphantly described the inspiration and production process of the reality show 'The Truman Show.' But at this time, what the audience felt in their hearts was an unparalleled shock.
This turning point is really too big; people thought this was just the life of a middle-class American. Although he encountered some troubles because of his father, he was still a person with a happy life after all. But the sudden revelation of the mystery made everyone feel unbelievable: all of this is false.
This huge turning point feels quite scary, but it is not abrupt: in the first half of the movie, in the first half of the plot, Levi has actually given a lot of hints.
The lamps falling from the sky, the whole street is full of watchmen, the rain will only pour on one person, the protagonist's parents, wife, and friends are all fake, that special tone of voice, those special shots, those special ways of doing things...
Everything is implying that Truman's world is not the real world but a hypocritical drama. But how many people dare to make such a judgment before the mystery of such a big drama is revealed?
Levi did not intentionally make a few onlookers in the movie and used their expressions to show his concern for Truman. This kind of attention should not be shown by the people in the movie so that the people in the movie theater can perform better.
A person's life is completely fake. Everything around him revolves around him; such a thing is too incredible. Unknowingly, the audience was led by Levi to become onlookers, and they saw Truman's life. Regarding the situation of Truman in the movie, everyone naturally has their own ideas.
These ideas are also reflected in the movie. After Christopher's self-satisfied introduction came to an end, he also connected with the audience.
And this time, Truman's first love/girlfriend, Sophia, came in, questioned the director loudly, and accused him of being sick. At this moment, this is also on the minds of the audience: Is the director's approach too pathological?
Christopher's words in front of the camera were not so much addressed to Sofia. Rather, he said it to the audience. His words turned the audience's original concern for Truman into a reflection on their own situation.
Indeed, Truman's life was arranged and organized by a director. But is their own life completely independent without the director's arrangement? How many people can follow the dream they pursued in their childhood? The vast majority of people have lost their ideals and live an ordinary life.
"Moreover, Miss Sophia. Why do you think Truman wants to get out of Seahaven Island? Since Seahaven Island was founded, countless loopholes have appeared in front of him. He would already have left if he really wanted to leave, with all his doubts.
Do you really think that even if he wanted to be an adventurer in childhood, will he really want to be an adventurer when he grows up? Stop joking. I am not limiting him, but it's his life. He is very satisfied with his current life but only complains occasionally..."
Christopher's other favorable evidence is presented. Indeed, everything on Seahaven Island is not perfect, and suspicious things have appeared in front of Truman many times.
However, Truman didn't really care about all this. Before his father reappeared, he didn't pay attention. Before he found out that his wife had betrayed him, he didn't really make up his mind to leave: he was very satisfied with his life; Fiji was just a dream to be talked about at leisure.
"You said I have no right to control his life, and neither do you. Let Truman choose his own way of life, whether he likes to live in the dream of Seahaven Island or not?"
The director's rebuttal left Sophia speechless. And the audience is also sighing at this time. Truman's life is indeed fake, but this kind of life is perfect after all. Are you willing to come out of such a perfect life if it were you?
People like to say that pursuing your dreams is a great thing. But in real life, how many people are overwhelmed and defeated by life? Truman's life was arranged by the visible director, but most people's lives were arranged by the invisible fate. No matter what kind of arrangement it is, how many people can fulfill their dreams without being crushed by life?
There are many flaws in Truman's life; isn't it the case in other people's lives? How many people obviously do jobs they don't like and make hypocritical expressions to people they don't like?
In the movie, Truman seems to have succumbed. He walked out of the house again. Once again, he met a neighbor at the door of his house. He still stood in front of the gate and greeted loudly like last time.
"Good morning, and in case I don't see ya, good afternoon, good evening, and good night!"
The words that seemed funny at the beginning made everyone sad when they heard them again: when they heard them last time, it was a greeting, but this time, everyone knows that his words are actually addressed to the audience in front of the TV.
The same is true for the subsequent shooting: the two old people he met again talked about buying insurance on the road, but in fact, their purpose was to let the camera shoot the large advertisement behind them.
The voice came from the radio again, but people already knew that it was only for Truman. And when Truman went to the company to go to work again when his colleagues introduced him to a new beautiful female colleague, almost everyone began to understand what was going on - this was the new arrangement arranged by the director for him. The director wants to guide his life to the route he wants again.
The girl is beautiful, the job is successful, and all these things are very good. However, the audience finds it hard to be happy about Truman's situation: all these are fake; how attractive are these hypocritical beauties?
When seeing Truman's happy life again, and when seeing Truman's day for the first time, the audience already had a completely different idea: no matter how beautiful this life is, it is fake after all.
This kind of life is so hypocritical that people sigh.
In the movie, the film crew watched Truman's life get on the right track with satisfaction. They were celebrating, chatting, and stopped paying attention to Truman's life. Truman also seemed to accept this kind of life, and he collapsed on his bed and fell asleep.
The atmosphere of the movie sank into a desperate situation at this time. Truman lived in such an environment and was still content with the status quo, which was unbearable.
And at this moment, the director keenly noticed something was wrong. When the camera zoomed in again, people suddenly discovered that no person was inside the quilt but a dummy made of pillows and balloons!
This time, what this sudden turning point brings to the audience is no longer a shock but a sudden surprise.
"Truman is gone! Marlon, go there immediately!"
In the movie, the director angrily directs Marlon to go. Without the monitoring of his wife, it is much more difficult to monitor Truman closely now. Marlon was exploring Truman's house, he wanted to find Truman, but after searching for a long time, he couldn't find anyone. Finally, he could only put his face in front of the camera and report his failure.
The face in front of the camera is probably the ugliest scene in the movie. This friend who tricked and deceived Truman in the play had such an ugly scene, which made the audience laugh. At this time, the audience was more concerned about another thing: Where did Truman go?
On the street, everyone came out, shouting loudly, trying to find Truman. Truman's school, workplace, home, and parents' house were searched everywhere. All cameras were called, and the director was so furious that he even ordered the sun to rise early to facilitate the search.
However, people still can't find him.
And amidst all this hustle and bustle, the director suddenly understood something.
"Aim the camera at the sea." The director suddenly ordered.
"He is afraid of water; what is he doing in the sea?" The staff didn't understand, but they still chose to be obedient. But this time, they were shocked: Truman sat on his own boat and sailed to the sea, "How can he drive a boat?"
He is no longer afraid of water. His fear of water is actually a fear of changing his status quo. However, his fear of changing the status quo disappeared when he realized his job, wife, friends, and even his parents were all fake.
For a person, the moment When you are determined to change your life, some small skills are not the reason to hinder at all.
Truman's sailing in the movie theater once again aroused a lot of voices: After the last turning point revealed the truth, this sudden turning point made the depressed audience excited.
The Truman Show is actually the true reflection of everyone. Seeing him breaking out of life and moving towards his dream, who would not cheer for him?
The sailboat of the door is a symbol of dreams.
