How fucking stupid could she be? It was that scorch of outrage that had her confidence boosted, her body giddy with the adrenaline of the dying. And her ears rang, tinnitus blaring, blood and oxygen—a violent cacophony.

"Let me out," she snarled, jaws clenched painfully. "Let me OUT!"

"Omega…" Seraphim called, eyes soft, body glowing softly like the moon, rippling like a lake.

The emperor of planet three, Seraphim was a body of pure poison. The poseidon could transform into anything, could slip into living beings and possess their bodies as his own. But the emperor was said to be capable of much more, could control all fluids, bend the water in his enemies and command their every move with his voice. For life existed only with water. Seraphim could snap his fingers and make her fuck them if he truly wanted to.

"Don't call me that," she snapped, despair dripping from her, breaking her. "Don't fucking call me that."

"Alright." His palms were up, acting as if she were a spooked animal in a cage as if she were the one acting crazy. They were a diabolical cocktail of gas lighting Alphas. "Let's just talk about this, please."

"In this fucking cage? I'm not a pet that you trap and feed—"

"But you'll run," Kieran murmured from her left, appearing like a star. "And we'll have to catch you again, and you might hurt yourself."

Levi hummed a raspy purr that boiled from behind, vibrating across her skin. "We're not awful Alphas, Rue. You know us. We're the same as before. Nothing has changed." Oh, everything had changed, he just didn't know it. Or maybe he did.

Halcyon's hands were raised, voice shaking with a plea. "I can vouch for my mates. Surely this extra little information—"

"Extra?" Rue laughed, crawled out of Levi's grasp and stumbled to her feet. "You're emperors in a pack of seven. That changes everything. You wanted me as Alpha, respected me as Alpha." Her gaze swept over them now, gestured to herself with a laugh. "Now that you know what I am. And you hate what I am. You—"

"You're still my soulmate," Altair snapped, then his lips curled, bottom lip jutted out into an almost pout. "You can't push me away."

"And mine." Valentino rushed his words, toppling through each syllable. "It doesn't change a thing, we're destined. You're ours, Rue, ours. It doesn't matter to me what you are." He stepped forward, tentacles reaching, already drenched in her scent, her claim. "I'm yours." He beseeched with beautiful eyes, with the warmest blue. "I've been yours forever." Her breath hitched then, caught in her throat pathetic for an Alpha she'd just fucked, heart catapulting into the sky.

"Valentino," her voice was weak from her lips, "you've only ever wanted to suck my cock."

"I'll suck anything that's yours," he begged, brazen, bold. "You know we'll protect you, we won't let them hurt you. The three of us—"

"You don't have to, Rue's my true mate," Seraphim interrupted, flushed pink when she stared. "Perhaps, even my soulmate. I just didn't think to look for an Omega, I never dreamed that what connected us all could be of a lesser gender. It's unheard of, but now perhaps I simply was not looking for an Omega—"

Her mind snapped then, escaped the fantasy and returned to level-headed consciousness. Alphas as misogynistic as the seven would never treat an Omega well. And in Seraphim's dreams, Seraphim's premonitions, there was a pregnant Omega, one so full of kids she was almost bursting. "Just let me go, let me think about it—"

"You were the one that lied to us." Dante stepped forward then, crackling and burning petrichor, a ghost of emotions drenching his handsome face, an irritated clench ticking away at his jaw. He was a zone of pure, unbridled power, and seething rage darkened his eyes. "I could have marked you, claimed you as pack without knowing the truth."

Dante was the emperor of planet one. He was untouchable, for only his mates were capable of caressing him, of touching him. He killed all that entered his path and was pack Alpha because of his strength. No Omega should even be capable of standing before him, let alone enduring his power. And yet Rue did, had survived a jolt of his electricity skating across her skin. And that seemed to reflect in his eyes, an irritation that burned her, weighed on her throat. And suddenly her palms were clammy, moisture beading on her forehead.

"Your insolence is incredible," Dante said slowly, voice curling velvet and thick, commanding.

"Dante," Levi murmured. "She did everything she had to do to survive." And Rue noted now the truth of the situation, the concern that now drenched their faces as if one wrong move could ruin the arrangement. Dante had the final say as pack Alpha, he was their leader, and it seemed her place in their pack was at risk.

"She played with the hearts of our mates," Dante answered, and she was captured by the tension. The heat that rolled off him, the sudden turmoil in her chest as her Omega whined and begged for her to bare her neck for him in submission. "Turned them weak, turned them against us. This is not safe."

"We are all merely intrigued."

"It's unbecoming for an Alpha of our calibre."

"Rue is unique." Levi bit back. "Extraordinary. Useful in battle. A guide made for us. "

"And dangerous."

Halcyon spoke then, a pitch in his voice. "Dante."

The zeus smiled. "Hush, dear heart, I'm merely suggesting that we collar her for a while in a safe place until we're sure of what to do with her. Our court will not be happy with her appearance, and we need to decide what to do next. It is not safe for her to frolic in our castle with Alphas all around, nor is it safe for her to travel with us into the battlefield, don't you agree?" Halcyon was silent then, a quiet nod of agreement that had her eyes widening. What the fuck?

Seraphim hummed. "I do need to look into my waters and check our futures again with this new information in mind."

Kieran sighed. "We have to prepare for her arrival, my people will not rejoice. We'll have to work on the media, the public's acceptance of an Omega consort before they will even allow such a union."

"Perhaps we can leave her here until things are ready." Dante nodded thoughtfully. Rue gaped at them then, horror blooming. He must be fucking joking.

"Dante, this is no place for an Omega. They need sunshine and nature, pleasant things or their minds break in this darkness." Levi sighed, and as if she were truly just a pet. "And her pre-Heat has barely even begun…"

"We'll take turns to care for her," Dante shrugged. "Besides, we needed heirs—"

Rue snapped, "no."

Dante turned to her then, eyes narrowing. "What?"

"I won't be your fucking Omega, trapped in this hell hole as your broodmare, I'd rather die."

"Omega," Dante smiled, smiled at her as if she were a fool, "this is for your protection—"

A skittish laugh had her spluttering. "My protection? You just want to own me, like all the fucking Alphas in my life."

บท 93: End of Chapter 29

There was a pinch in his brow, a rush as he moved forward, scent simmering into sweetness, a rush of pretty cold, fresh frosty air. His scent transformed into a beguiling lure as if confidence seasoned his every action. He stood before her, smiling, dimpled and pretty. A deliberation roaring in his eyes as he regarded her, as if a plan had already formed in his mind, as if her decisions were premeditated. "Rue," he finally used her name, "elite Alphas detest Omegas. They don't need them; they don't want them. They only use them when they have to. What do you think will happen when everyone on Hakon learns of the truth?"

"You wouldn't."

"I won't have to," he answered with a smile, "what did you plan to do? Hide the truth forever? You'll expose yourself eventually without those drugs, and fall apart in class. You'll be taken by those Alphas who do not have an ounce of self-control. If you're irresistible to us, you will be ambrosia to the others. They will eat you alive."

"You don't know that."

"It's the truth. Why else would I accuse you of spiking the slick? I've never tasted an Omega quite as enticing as you are," He smiled pleasantly at her, as if she were a child, as if she didn't know better. "I commend you for fooling everyone, for fooling us, but eventually it wouldn't have been possible for you to continue on. You'll just have to give up on those dreams." His words burned, burned and tore into her heart like a dagger, and he did so looking like a gorgeous monster. "You'll be much happier, pupped and cared for by the strongest, richest Alphas in the world."

And Rue understood now, understood in the bite of his words, the difference from when he thought her to be Alpha. That because she was Omega he didn't even plan to claim her, didn't want to sink his teeth into her neck and allow her entry into his pack as his only Omega. Because that was beneath him, that was something a zeus could never do, an emperor could never do.

Even now when her eyes swept across the group, she noted the hints of prejudice burning in their eyes. The looks on their face as if Dante's words tumbled from their hearts. No disagreement erupted from their lips, no horrified gasp, instead acceptance shone in their eyes, and hope dripped from their gaze as if her understanding would settle all problems.

It was as if she were only worth that much to them.

And maybe she was.

"You've got to be kidding me," she whispered. "You don't even want me in your pack anymore just because I'm an Omega." Dante's godly expression faltered. It was a shift as if she had just unlocked his truth. And the six other assholes remained quiet and enabling.

"It wouldn't be proper," he agreed softly. "Emperors are expected to try multiple times, to have hundreds of heirs. The seven of us could never be faithful to just one Omega. And you must know how the odds dip lower once an Alpha's mated to an Omega, and his body's changed for that Omega. Historically, it's the reason why the elite don't have Omegas in their pack—"

"You're a fucking asshole, aren't you?" she laughed, laughed at his stupid fucking face, at his fantasies. "I'm not listening to your bullshit."

"You'll understand," Dante told her, with a shrug. "A few days here will do the trick." He turned to Levi then, nodded as if he didn't fucking care. "You may use our home in planet 23. The trees won't die with just a couple of days in the dark."

Levi hummed, clearing his throat. "Dante…Perhaps, we should give her some time."

"She'll have all the time she needs, safe in here away from others." Dante stepped back then, and regarded Levi with a lower voice, an Alpha's command, a call that stretched and swept at her, like a weight on her shoulders, like an itch of her heart. "Keep her here," Dante ordered. It had Levi stiffening, his lips pursed into a thin line.

"Fine," Levi grouched, head hung low. "Don't blame me when you regret it."

"We won't," Dante beamed, stepping back as if anticipating the rush of freedom from the shadows. He smiled sweetly. "Let us depart."

It was then that her heart stirred, roared as she regarded the six. The way they seemed unable to speak against Dante's word, the way they sagged against the command. And the way the call felt familiar, drenched her being and urged her towards a better direction.

And inside her, something bubbled in her chest, started warm in her belly, grew and expanded into her muscles, stretching like a glowing warmth, a roar of glittering stardust and gold. There was no fatigue now with its arrival, only giddy adrenaline that animated her body, invigorated her mind, and turned her into something beyond her capabilities. It was the feeling that ran through her veins when she protected herself, only now boosted tenfold. And it felt as if she understood what it was, the potential she had, the reason for why she'd survived for this long.

A voice of power.

"No."

Dante turned to her then, a curious raise of his brow.

"You," her gaze swept to Levi, lips moving, "will let me free."

Dante's mouth sagged open into a gag of surprise, panic seizing in his breath. And suddenly, vertigo swept through her vision, the darkness swallowing into a pinpoint and then blossoming into colour. She stumbled, back inside the elevator, with Levi staring at her wide-eyed and twitching before her and the others lingering at the door to their dormitory.

Levi spluttered, holding his head, eyes wide as he regarded her with newfound respect. "W-what the fuck?"

"Don't let her go!" Pure panic swept from Dante's lips, shock swirling from his breath as he stormed forward in a rush of purple electricity. The scene was replaying and suddenly there was no easy confidence, no laidback waiting. Suddenly, all seven were moving forward, running with hands outreached, with terror colouring their cheeks.

How fucking stupid.

"Stop."

And they did, stuttering to a halt like soldiers, eyes wide and horrified. Dante's terror seemed to spill from his lips, a wave of reasoning, of attempts to make sense of the situation. He blabbered. "She has an Alpha's command without a claim? How the fuck is that possible—She's not our—This isn't real—"

Altair snorted, exhaled breath, but a smirk grew on his cheeks. "She's stronger than you babe, you fucked up."

And Halcyon seemed to smile, bold, brazen, needy. "She's so hot, isn't she?"

Valentino nodded, too frozen to be her doing, standing far too straight it was almost as if he were leaning into her command. "I told you we had to be careful, damn it. Halcyon and I struggled with her commands for years."

Seraphim flushed then. "What do you think will happen when she sinks her teeth into our necks?"

Kieran laughed, sparkles glittering in the light. "Guess, we'll cum on command."

Dante spluttered, almost desperate to regain control. And he was berserk with it, transformed from the calm smiling bastard into a panicky little shit. He roared, shaking against her command, red-faced and dewy. "Let us go." He snarled. "Omega, you will let us go—"

"Kneel," she hissed, and he choked, air wheezing from his lungs, eyes wide. The rest stumbled to their knees immediately, but Dante sank, slow and horrified to the ground. He stared at her then, gorgeous face a wreck of understanding of knowledge, that there was nothing he could do to her. And Rue smiled, smiled at the humiliation that bit into his fucking ass, the embarrassment that burned in his cheeks. His clouds had transformed into pitiful little droplets of rain, soaking his cheeks.

Levi spoke then, hissing a laugh. "Gods Rue, darling. You didn't have to use it on all of us. I'd kneel for you anytime." She ignored him, chose to glare at Dante and sneered at his power-hungry face.

"I don't want to listen to your bullshit," Rue snapped, middle finger shot into the air, aimed in their direction. "Don't want to see your fucking faces ever again. I want you to fuck off, pretend nothing happened and leave me alone."

Halcyon's eyes widened at that. "Shit, Rue! You don't mean that do you—"

"Goodbye motherfuckers," she saluted with a hiss. "Come back to me only when you care about Omega rights, and treat your mothers well, misogynistic trash."

Her fingers swept to the buttons and stabbed for the ground floor to the wails of her so-called soulmates. A whimsical ding resounded as the door snapped shut in the faces of the seven emperors in the universe. And Rue was gone.
