บท 75: Chapter 75: Wealth And Power
"What? Why? What happened to the house? I'm bringing Emily home on Tuesday. She will love to see you once she gets back. What should I tell her if she ask of you?
"You don't have to tell her anything. I'll stop at your place tomorrow to see her before leaving. So, don't get yourself worked up for nothing.
"You know, when I heard those things about Paige, I really didn't care. I was just okay with the fact she was there for you and that was all that really mattered to me. But hearing all this now and seeing her today, I feel bad. But I think I understand. It's really not a bad thing to crave for wealth and power. Maybe she's just trying to pave a way for herself in wealth. But, why not with you?" Anna asked looking at her brother. "You can give her the whole world without flinching. You seem to love everything about her, her flaws inclusive. Why not you?" In reply Simon shrugged showing that he had no idea.
"How's June and Emily?" He asked changing the topic.
"They're great. June is stressed out with the wedding preparation. Emily is having a time of her life touring Acubana with my best friends mum. I provided a tour guide for them."
"Gracia is in town?" He asked remembering his sister's only best friend.
"Yeah, they came in early for June's wedding. She came with her mum." Anna replied.
"They're staying at your place?"
"What? Hell no. Gracia would never agree to that. They're staying at a hotel. She really love her privacy so much." Anna replied. They heard the loud laughter from the garden as the celebration continued outside.
"Maybe we should go home. I've had enough for the night." Simon suggested.
"We can't leave Paige behind. We'll have to wait till the end of the party. And we might as well join them at the garden. Let's stop acting like Paige has a pair of our body organ please." She smiled at her brother who smiled back. "Beside, she's almost like the today's celebrant. So, as her friends, we'll be given great treat for food and drinks." She added jokingly.
Simon laughed hilariously at her silly joke. "You are sick Na." He said laughing.
"Of all the people in the world, Paige choose Franklin Tedson." Anna thought aloud. "I don't get it."
"What don't you get. You introduced her to him didn't you?" Simon asked as jealousy started creeping up on him.
"In my defense, I never asked her to date him dude." She replied. "I told her he was a nice person. This happened at June's engagement party. That was few weeks after her arrival. I can't possibly bore her with Frankie's story." She said.
"You owe her an honest explanation cause you are guilty as charged. As far as we know everybody here sees Tedson as a perfect human that is without guilt. I doubt any of them actually know who he really is." Simon said adjusting his trouser. "Let's go home sister. Paige is spending the night with the Tedsons. I need to rest my head and attempt sleep as well. Who knows I might be fortunate enough to get some sleep. Are coming to the Mansion or going back to Acubana?" He asked.
"The latter." She replied. "I can't leave Emily all alone at home. I'll see you tomorrow at my place right?" She asked as they headed outside the hall in slow steps.
"Definitely." He replied holding her by the arm to help steady her steps as she was putting on a high heel sandal. As a result, he walked slower than before so as not to strain her. They changed the topic of discussion to June's upcoming wedding. Simon was happy his younger sister found a man who makes her happy. His wish have always been for his sisters to end up with responsible and loving men who would never mistreat them.
"Si," Anna called tapping her brother on the arm "look, isn't that Frankie?" She asked pointing at Franklin Tedson who was standing under the thick shade of a tree in the farther end of the compound away from everyone.
Simon turned towards the direction his sister was pointing at. "And Fiona." He added seeing who Franklin Tedson was standing with.
"That's wierd. Never knew those two are friends." Anna said turning to continue to their car.
"Maybe they are just business partners." Simon replied.
"Business partners? What's that?" She asked.
"It's a long story. I'll tell you tomorrow. I seriously need to rest. I don't feel too good." Simon told her.
"Come to Acubana with me. You can't go back to that mansion and stay there all alone." Anna pleaded.
"I do stay alone way before now Na. I'm fine, do not worry yourself. I just need to rest. That's all." He said as they approached Anna's car. She was driven down by her personal driver who works with her at Acubana.
"Are you sure?" She asked as they halted in front of her car.
"Very." Simon replied opening the car door for her while she stepped. "Be safe." Be said closing the passenger door. He turned to her driver. "Drive carefully" he said before heading to his car. As usual, Bruce was waiting for him. He entered the car closing the door. But Bruce was still standing obviously waiting for Paige. Seeing that his chauffeur was still standing outside he opened the passenger door. "What are you still doing there Bruce, ain't we going home?" He asked.
'I'm waiting for Miss Paige sir." He replied. "Aren't we going with her?"
"Please start the car Bruce. She'll be home tomorrow. He said and Bruce quickly entered the car and they zoomed off.
