บท 21: Chapter 20 Going to Tianhua City and the Trade Problem
Once outside, Liang Chen starts processing some materials from the cobalt monkeys and the 2 cobalt apes. The others were in awe since all of them have very little experience in processing materials from demon beasts. They can cut off the claws and horns in a crude way but not how Liang Chen was doing it. The 3 let Liang Chen handle the processing of materials since he can do it so much better and the quality is very high as well. Shi Long spoke with the other 2 and decided to let Liang Chen get the materials for the cobalt apes and share the rest. Wang Jun and Chen Wei have no problems with it. Liang Chen killed the cobalt apes and is doing work for them. They will get high-quality materials from the cobalt monkeys.
While Liang Chen was working, Wang Jun suddenly asked. "Brother Chen, how did you quickly kill the cobalt ape at Qi Refining level 3? I was busy checking on brother Wei and fending off a few cobalt monkeys."
Shi Long and Chen Wei looked at Liang Chen. It seems that they too had no time to see Liang Chen in action.
Liang Chen thought for a moment. "Like this." He threw 3 formation flags then made some hand signs. The pebbles and rocks within the formation suddenly float upwards. The 3 has their mouth wide open, and almost a fist can fit inside. The 3 children were looking at the floating rocks amazed and playing with them like poking the rocks using sticks.
"YOU KNOW ARRAY FORMATIONS!" Shi Long surprisingly asked.
Liang Chen just said. "I just know some level 1 array formations and just some basic ones."
"Huh? Wait... How? How did you create an array formation and activate it so quickly? And how is THAT a basic array formation? I've never seen such an effect before!" Shi Long threw questions like a machine gun while pointing at the array formation.
Liang Chen was stunned. Does a gravity array formation doesn't exist in this world? "It is just reversing gravity, nothing fancy about it."
Wang Jun asked. "What is gravity?"
Do I have to start with that? Liang Chen doesn't want to explain how gravity works and the existence of graviton particles. He knows that after he explains those things, they will have tons of other questions since he will use more terms that came from earth and he is busy doing so right now. He remembered Newton so he just made a simple explanation of a falling fruit and his formation reverses the fall instead. The 3 friends just look at him. They are already busy and full with their hands with their cultivation and they have no time to study array formations. They now think that Liang Chen is a genius. Shi Long seems quite happy knowing to have a friend like Liang Chen. Wang Jun seems to want to say something but kept quiet instead, and Chen Wei has this understanding face and thought about that rumor again and is now believing it to be true.
When Liang Chen was finished, the 3 cannot believe their eyes, they not only get the furs, claws, and fangs but they got 33 demon cores out of 33 cobalt monkeys. Extracting demon cores was very hard. Without experience, they can damage the demon core and turn it into waste but Liang Chen's processing skills were top-notch. Though materials can get some good prices, the demon cores are the most valuable since it is versatile in use. They get 8 each of the materials and demon cores while 9 plus the ones from the cobalt apes for Liang Chen, the trio are very happy with what they got.
The group went back to Qingyuan village. Xiao Zong Se was waiting anxiously when he saw his sister Xiao Meng running towards him crying. He held his sister and started crying as well. The villagers saw the other 2 kids and their families run toward them. Liang Chen gave the trinkets he found to the village chief. Some villagers took the trinkets crying. The villagers are somewhat happy now that it is safe to go outside and do their business. The village chief and others tried giving Liang Chen and the group some food and crops but they refused. Xiao Meng and Xiao Zong Se thanked them and made a promise to work harder and try getting into the Mystic Cloud Sect.
"If you ever need help, just visit the Mystic Cloud Sect and post a mission again. The sect will gladly hear you out and send people like us." Shi Long said as the 4 left the village.
Every village and town can send a messenger to sects and they can post a mission with or without a fee. The Mystic Cloud Sect accepts mission posts from villages without a fee but towns and cities have fees. Not only this helps poor villages, but it also gave missions to disciples for the experience. These missions are then given to the assignment hall for disciples to choose from. With waves of goodbye from the Qingyuan village, the 4 felt good leaving.
Shi Long invited them to Tianhua City where the Jade Mountain Trading headquarters is situated. He brags about being the young master and can give them a good price for the materials. The other 3 agreed. Liang Chen got a Qi Refining realm monster core and fangs to make Xiu Ying's sword. He just needs auxiliary materials for it.
As the 4 traveled to Tianhua City, halfway through, they were able to get a ride from a caravan that are delivering goods to the city. It seems that as long as you have coins, you can get a ride from merchants traveling to the same destination. Though this was Liang Chen's 1st time sitting inside a cart beside sacks and trunks of goods, despite the bumpy ride, it was not bad. It is faster than walking as well. On the way, they saw some experts flying either using flying swords or a small flying artifact following the road to the city. This shows how prosperous the city is and one of the centers of trade in the area. Liang Chen thought that it would be great to fly in the sky. Back on earth, he wasn't able to get a chance to board a plane, and is one of his regrets he thought of 6 years ago. When they arrived, the group get off the cart and saw a long line of about 50 people and another line for a few carriages and carts on the other side, who were waiting for their chance to go inside a large gate. While walking towards the gate, Shi Long explained the process of entering a city.
"Since we are all sect disciples and I am the young master of the Jade Mountain Trading, we don't need to wait in line, our fee will be 100 copper coins or 1 silver upon entering the gate." Shi Long said.
Seems that Wang Jun already knew about it. Liang Chen and Chen Wei just only noticed that the ones falling in line were either mortals or poor people. Being a cultivator has high privileges in this world. When they reached the gate, one of the guards noticed Shi Long and called him young master. After a moment of pleasantries, they showed their sect tokens and paid the entrance fee then went inside. Shi Long gave them a little tour while heading towards the Jade Mountain Trading HQ, pointing at stores and telling them what kind of store it was. They reached a big store that has the same size as a mansion. You can see a carving of a mountain and a rising sun at the top with the words Jade Mountain Trading. A guard noticed Shi Long and quickly came up.
"Young master, welcome back! However, your father seems to be in some kind of problem." The guard quickly said.
"What kind of problem?" Shi Long quickly asked.
The guard looks a bit flustered. "I am not sure of the details but it seems to be from the recent trade that was made."
"Bring me to my father, quickly. These are my friends and fellow disciples." Shi Long looks at the other 3 and said. "Follow me." Then he quickly went inside.
Liang Chen and the other 2 followed Shi Long inside while the guard immediately went ahead leading the way. When they reached a certain room, they saw 2 figures. An old man with a worrying face and a bearded man with a frown.
"Father! Old Yun! What happened?" The 4 entered while the guard stayed outside.
The bearded man was surprised and looked at Shi Long. "Long'er! You are back!" This man was Shi Feng, Shi Long's father and the leader of the Jade Mountain Trading. Dhi Feng noticed the 3 that came with his son. "These are?" Shi Long quickly introduced his friends. After a quick introduction, Shi Feng put a hand on Shi Long's shoulder. "It's good that you are back but the time is not good." Shi Feng said as he made a heavy sigh.
"What is it?" Shi Long asked.
"It is like this." Old Yun said. This was Zhang Yun, an old friend and trusted vassal of Shi Feng. Zhang Yun has been working with the Shi family for years even before Shi Long was born.
"Your father made a trade for a lot of Golden Sunfire Coral with the promise of everything will be of good quality. However, the quality that was delivered was too low. They showed a box full of good quality Golden Sunfire Corals as proof but the rest of the materials are almost a waste." Old Yun explained, his tone showing frustration.
