บท 93: Ch 93. The Infirmary
"Hoshimi! Hoshimi!"
Hearing Iwanaga Kotoko's panicked cries, the students watching nearby realized something might be wrong. They looked at each other, unsure of what to do next.
It was Hiratsuka Shizuka, standing a bit further away, who reacted first. Her expression changed, and she quickly took several large strides to Kotoko's side.
She knelt down and looked at the unconscious Hoshimi.
Passed out? Aftereffects?
Hiratsuka Shizuka's lips tightened, her eyes filled with seriousness. She glanced at the surrounding students and quickly instructed, "Some of you go get the school nurse, and the rest of you, clear the area. Don't crowd around!"
"Oh, okay!"
With Hiratsuka Shizuka taking charge, the students found their anchor. Those who needed to clear out quickly moved away, and those tasked with finding the nurse immediately turned and ran off.
Meanwhile, Haruno had somehow made her way down from the podium, supporting Yukinoshita. The two didn't leave but instead walked toward the fainted Hoshimi.
In truth, the moment Iwanaga Kotoko and Hoshimi made eye contact, Haruno knew her opportunity had arrived.
She quickly started thinking about how to capitalize on the situation, but she didn't expect Hoshimi to suddenly faint!
To be honest, when Hoshimi fainted, Haruno realized it seemed too coincidental.
He didn't faint earlier or later, but right at this moment, as if he had calculated it perfectly, diverting everyone's attention to himself and potentially defusing a conflict.
Then, as she suspected Hoshimi might be faking it, her foolish sister with the sprained ankle seemed ready to jump off the podium in panic.
This scared Haruno enough to quickly step forward and support Yukino.
Naturally, there was no need for further explanation. Since Yukino was worried about Hoshimi, Haruno could only go along with her and help her check on him.
"Ms. Hiratsuka, is Hoshimi's condition serious?"
Yukino, looking at the unconscious Hoshimi, frowned deeply and asked in a low voice.
Holding Hoshimi, Hiratsuka Shizuka shook her head, "I'm not sure. We'll have to wait for the nurse to see him. If there's a problem, we'll send him to the hospital directly."
"Let me take a look." At this moment, Iwanaga Kotoko had calmed down. She picked up her reddish-brown cane and walked seriously over to Hoshimi.
Earlier, when she saw Hoshimi, her emotions fluctuated, and she didn't notice anything odd about his aura.
Now that she had calmed down, she saw that Hoshimi's body was emitting a mysterious, dreamlike aura from the inside out.
She couldn't quite grasp what was going on, but one thing was certain: Hoshimi had used his own dream-related ability, which was why he was emitting such an aura.
Thinking about Hoshimi's strange dream ability, Iwanaga Kotoko's expression turned serious. She knelt down, held Hoshimi's dangling left hand, and closed her eyes to feel it carefully.
"..." Watching Kotoko's serious expression, Hiratsuka Shizuka thought for a moment and decided not to disturb her.
After all, she was just holding his hand. As long as she didn't do anything else, it should be fine.
Meanwhile, Yukino had similar thoughts to Hiratsuka Shizuka but with a few more questions.
What exactly was the relationship between the girl in the dress and Hoshimi? They seemed very familiar... Did they know each other in reality or in the dream?
Yukino pondered silently, her gaze shifting back and forth between Hoshimi and Kotoko.
Not long after, a few students hurried back with a teacher in a white coat.
"The nurse is here..."
Seeing the nurse in front of her, Hiratsuka Shizuka spoke with a serious expression, "Ms. Tachibana, I'll leave it to you."
"Mm..." The nurse, who rarely showed any facial expressions, nodded.
She stood still for a moment, taking a deep breath to calm herself.
Once she was composed, she knelt down, put her index and middle fingers together, and checked Hoshimi's pulse on his neck.
His pulse was strong and steady, indicating no major issues.
Next, she leaned down to listen to his breathing.
Hmm? His breathing seemed unusually steady and long.
With a puzzled look, she glanced at Hiratsuka Shizuka, asking, "What's his name?"
"Hoshimi Kiyokawa."
"Okay, I understand." The nurse, still expressionless, patted Hoshimi's shoulder and called out, "Hoshimi Kiyokawa, wake up, wake up."
There was no response.
The nurse's confusion deepened. She looked at Hiratsuka Shizuka, "Ms. Hiratsuka, please lay him flat."
"Okay." Hiratsuka Shizuka carefully laid Hoshimi's upper body on the ground.
Then, the nurse leaned down, blocking everyone's view, and pried open Hoshimi's eyelids.
His eyes didn't move, suggesting he was truly unconscious.
She thought for a moment and waved her fingers in front of Hoshimi's eyes.
His eyes twitched slightly but the movement was small and barely noticeable.
"..."
The nurse was speechless. She stared at Hoshimi for a while.
"Sigh~" The nurse sighed wearily.
"?!!"
"Ms. Tachibana, what's wrong with Hoshimi?"
"Hey? Nurse, is Hoshimi okay?"
The sigh instantly tensed Kotoko and Yukino, both of whom urgently asked in unison.
Listening to the anxious inquiries of the two girls, the nurse became even more speechless.
She stood up, rubbing her temples, "Hoshimi's fine. He just fainted from overexertion. Let him rest in the infirmary for a while, and he should wake up."
"Whew~" The two girls breathed a sigh of relief, the tension in their hearts easing.
"Alright, I'm leaving. You guys take him to the infirmary. The door's unlocked."
The nurse, not wanting to get involved in the young people's affairs, left without looking back.
