บท 78: An Edge To Look Forward To

Undying Prophet had gone out to look for something to fight, back then, he had been one of great intelligence compared to his brethen, after all, he was of an orc species under the 'monster' category, wits wasn't something typical nor needed.

The orcs were strong individually but also generally worked in groups, demultiplying their might proportionally for they at least had the advantage of having pretty good coordination and battle senses.

Undying Prophet had been both blessed and cursed by the system, at least that is how he saw it.

The system was a strange force that sometime did things without reasons or logic, much like a god, only, even the gods were apart of this system.

It had granted this one orc greater cognitive capacities but also given him the least it could when it came to his own status.

It was common knowledge that everyone's perception and experience with the system was different despite all following the same logic, Undying Prophet couldn't view anything through a status window, he didn't have any of such things.

Only able to somewhat feel his stats, skills and such, which wasn't accurate in the least, otherwise he never would have thought for so long that his immortality was just incredible regeneration.

In any case, on an average day that didn't have anything much different from the rest, he had received his first lethal blow from some sort of huge mantis.

Chopping his head cleanly off, sending it spinning to the side with a majestic trail of blood spurting out, making for a beautiful scene to behold.

Before his head could get anywhere too far however, it felt like time stopped as he noticed something playing out in front of him, a vision, a revelation.

Things were hard to make out, he could see, feel, hear, taste and smell in this vision, he saw the Obsidian Queen, years before meeting her in person, the ministers, everything was going extremely quick until it suddenly slowed.

He could recognise some of Axio's offspring throwing themselves to their deaths in the distance, not so dissimilar to what was happening near the border of Amor.

Though the surroundings were much different.

Someone said something, whether it was himself or someone else, he couldn't tell, everything felt vague and obscured.

Then, a blur, a pain and a single sight, his own face reflected on the blade of an unknown weapon and then darkness.

This was how it had ended and ever since then, Undying Prophet had understood something fundamental, he wasn't truly immortal or he believed that this last scene was his own death, a mysterious warrior swiftly ending him in a single blow, so quickly that he wouldn't see it coming.

His immortality was going to be severed, it was written in fate and instead of trying to defy it, he would rather simply use his temporary immortality to fight as much as he could, encounter as many prodigious warriors as possible, enemies that would have defeated him, no questions asked but that would instead fall to his fists.

Because it was their fates.

And fate was inescapable.

Snapping out of his reveries, he actually began paying attention to everything around him, immediately noticing the presence of two fellow ministers.

Not having been left untold of what the Obsidian Queen was planning, he acted as if nothing of importance was happening, not that his orc face was easy to read in the first place.

He simply began thinking of his revelation, he remembered that before everything slowed down, moments prior to his true death, he hadn't been alone, he had been with another minister and they had to split up due to enemies, perhaps there had even been three ministers, he wasn't certain as everything had gone by too fast.

It had been decades since his revelations too... Yet he still remembered most of it vividly.

'An edge to look forward to' he thought to himself, staring into the barrier before him.

Was that warrior from Amor? Was he going to encounter him soon? Or was the vision still far from coming true? Perhaps he wasn't even on this continent.

Much to wonder...

Whilst Undying Prophet was busy getting lost in his own thoughts again, The Scourge had already envelopped Axiolypito, who had left his crown in Axia, only taking the crystal with him, even though he hadn't made contact with anyone else for a long time, he still kept it close to him.

Faceless Lord had left immediately after taking them here and after some walking, they had casually entered the great barrier erected to protect the United Lands Of Amor, something so intricate and powerful that even Axio, with his lowly mana signature wouldn't be able to get through, not even a mice could make it past.

The Scourge, however, had no such problems, going in and out as though it owned the place.

"We should have no issue deactivating the barrier, however, the devices are thightly protected and watched by elites mages, warriors and such, all equipped with items protecting them from my powers, I can't take care of them quickly enough" explained The Scourge as it and Axio were now standing on top of some barracks.

"..." the wretch didn't respond immediately as he took in the landscape, the area behind the barrier was quite barren due to all the recent installations, high mountains loomed in the distance, their peaks covered in snow.

Fortifications were everywhere, siege waeponry ready to unleash hell at any given moments, soldiers patrolling in thight formations, adventurers, mercenaries of various species, many of them appearing decently powerful and many others that could definitely be problems.

He noted the nearby buildings were devices were situated, the barrier was huge and complex, to truly have it disappear, many things needed to be deactivated.

There were many of those devices, ranging all over the lengthy borders of Amor, even if they destroyed some, once they left, they would be rebuilt quickly.

What was needed was constant pressure and utter chaos.

"Bear witness" casually spoke Axio with a not-so casual smirk as he approached the building housing one of the many devices with a orb in his hand, which he thrusted into the ground.

Looking as a battle tower instantly tore out of the ground right in the spot where the building had been, demolishing it entirely.

Chaos was Axiolypito's forte.
