As Alisha walks out of the room, she can't shake off the feeling of unease. What did Ms Lee mean by the CFO recommending her? She doesn't even know who the CFO is. She tries to remember if she saw anyone who could fit the description in the elevator or lobby. Suddenly, it hits her - the man she met in the elevator on the interview day. Was he the CFO? He hired me, maybe because he was interested in me?
Lost in her thoughts, she didn't even notice Harry Jackard walking towards her until he greeted her with a big smile on his face. "Hey there! Congratulations on getting the job," he said, patting her on the back.
Alisha forced a smile and muttered a quiet, "thanks." She was still trying to process everything that had just happened in the interview room.
Harry noticed her confusion and asked, "Is everything okay? Did you get the job?"
Alisha nodded, still lost in thought and a bit frustrated. "Yeah, but Ms Lee said that the CFO hired me, not because of my skills, but maybe because I made some shady deal with him" she replied, her voice tinged with confusion and frustration.
Harry looked thoughtful for a moment before replying, "Chief Finance Officer, huh? He must be on the finance floor, which is on the 20th floor. You can ask him yourself."
Alisha's heart skipped a beat. Could it be the same person she met in the elevator on her interview day?
"Thanks Berry!" She thanked Harry and quickly made her way to the elevator, pressing the button for the 20th floor. As the elevator doors closed, She heard Harry shouting, "Well! You are welcome! And it's Harry, you know!" Alisha couldn't help but smile at him and also wonder what lay ahead on the finance floor. Would she finally get the answers to her questions? Or would she be left with even more mysteries?
As Alisha stepped out of the elevator onto the 20th floor, she was immediately struck by the bustling atmosphere of the finance office. The sounds of ringing phone, tapping keyboards, and shuffling papers filled the air, creating a sense of urgency and importance. She made her way towards the receptionist desk.
"Excuse me, can you tell me where the CFO's office is?" Alisha asked, trying to keep her voice calm despite her growing anxiety and frustration.
The receptionist glanced up at her briefly, then went back to typing. "Down the hall, third door on the left. But you need an appointment--"
Alisha didn't wait to hear the rest. She ignored the receptionist and made her way down the hall, her mind racing with questions. Why did the CFO recommend her? Was it because of her skills, or was there some other reason?
As she approached the third door on the left, Alisha took a deep breath to calm her nerves. She pushed the door open with a sudden burst of energy and saw a man standing by the window with his back to her. He wore an expensive suit, and his posture exuded confidence and power.
Alisha's heart raced as she took a step forward. "Who the hell do you think you are?" she shouted, her voice quivering with anger and fear. "Do you think I'm some kind of woman you can bribe or something?"
As he turned around, Alisha was shocked to see that he wasn't the man she had met in the elevator. His face was chiselled and striking, with sharp cheekbones and piercing eyes that seemed to bore into her very soul. He exuded an aura of power and confidence that left Alisha feeling small and intimidated.
Without a word, he walked towards her with a confident gait, the sound of his footsteps echoing through the silent office. The scent of his cologne wafted towards her, a heady mix of sandalwood and leather that made her pulse race.
As he stepped closer, Alisha couldn't help but notice his tall, muscular build and the way his expensive suit seemed to fit him perfectly. His dark, tousled hair added to his rugged and mysterious allure, while his stubbled jawline made him look both dangerous and irresistible.
The scent of his cologne enveloped her, a heady mix of musk and spice that made her heart race. Alisha could feel her knees growing weak as he towered over her, his intense gaze locking onto hers. Despite her fear, she couldn't deny the attraction she felt towards this enigmatic stranger.
As he leaned in close to her, she could feel the heat of his breath on her skin, sending a shiver down her spine. His eyes never left hers, dark and intense, as he growled in a slow, heavy voice that was both threatening and seductive.
"How dare you talk to me in such a tone, lady," he said, his words laced with a hint of danger. Alisha was taken aback by his words and demeanour, unsure of how to respond to this powerful stranger who seemed to have all the answers.
Alisha was both terrified and enthralled by this man, unsure of what to do or say in his presence. She was caught in a web of desire and danger, unable to resist the pull of his magnetic charisma. As he stood there, staring down at her, Alisha realized that she was in way over her head.
