บท 33: Another Reward? (part 1)
"Another reward?" asked Wyatt, he couldn't help but be surprised since he just received a b rank skill. Although he knew about the trials giving rewards, originally he only decided to take them because they sounded interesting.
Now that he could be potentially receiving two powerful skills, he was obviously very thrilled."I thought you said this is the only poison skill?"
"I did say that, but when that girl finished her trials earlier she received 2 skill books. Admittingly, we might not have any poison skills, but we definitely have many other skills that can help boost your strength" Lachlan stated while bringing two different books out of what seemed to be thin air
Taking the two new arrivals Wyatt studied their information

Volt Vultures was a summoning skill that allows its user to create electric vultures completely out of their own mana. The summons could then fight alongside, or provide support through a multiple of different ways, such as scouting ahead.
Wyatt thought the skill was pretty interesting, but he wasn't completely sold on it. The biggest issue with choosing this skill is that it has a very high mana cost. Not only would Wyatt need to spend mana to summon these creatures, but he would also have to waste more mana the longer he kept them summoned.
Although the skill definitely had its benefits, Wyatt simply couldn't afford the high usage costs. Putting the first book down on the office table, Wyatt examined the second option.

This skill was much more simple than the lightning skill he saw earlier.
Full breathing was exactly what it sounded like, By using wind mana he could create a bubble inside his mouth allowing him to continuously breathe even in harsh environments. The skill stated that even if he were to go underwater, he would not have any problems breathing.
Full Breathing was clearly a very useful skill that could help in multiple situations. Still, Wyatt couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed since neither skill really stood out much to him.
Deciding he didn't need to rush his decision, Wyatt grabbed both skills before heading back to his earlier seat to study both skill books a little longer.
After another 5 minutes of contemplating Wyatt still failed to come to a conclusion.
Seeing the boy struggling to make up his mind Lachlan chuckled "If neither of those interest you, how about you make a gamble with me instead"

At the same time, just outside the tower, a crowd was already starting to form while waiting for the results to be displayed.
Even Hazel who was focused on her training earlier decided to check out the results. She doubted that there would be anything impressive after her own score, still, she was a bit curious to see what order everyone would be ranked in.
For some reason, she was especially curious about the weird blue haired boy that she made eye contact with earlier. Although she didn't think he looked very strong, he was the first one to start training while waiting so she didn't want to completely dismiss him.
"Everyone, it's time for the results!" Nikolai declared, much to the excitement of the large crowd below him.
without any further delay, a massive display once again appeared in front of the magic tower.

The first name had finally appeared, most of the people in the crowd couldn't care less about who received last place so instead, they continued watching the display as it flooded with new names.
Sadly, not everyone was so nice, and plenty of the ill-mannered players decided to make fun of the lowest scorer when they were teleported out. Luckily for them, they didn't have to wait long as a flash of white appeared teleporting the first player out.
"Everyone, be careful here comes Mr 1 star!" one player took the chance to already start joking about the new arrival before the light even faded. This resulted in a couple of his friends, as well as surrounding players letting out their own laughs.
Unexpectedly, what appeared after the light disappeared was actually a little boy who appeared to only be 6 or 7 years old. The atmosphere surrounding the crowd suddenly felt a lot more awkward as people felt bad about laughing at a little kid.
The guy who took the chance to make a joke earlier was even beaten and kicked out of the crowd. Of course, that single person wasn't the sole user making fun of the boy however, since he was the most vocal he was quickly turned into a scapegoat to help calm the situation.
As he was getting his butt kicked out, the man wanted to cry due to the sudden unfair treatment he was receiving. He was being completely blamed for making fun of a child, and if that wasn't bad enough when he turned his head, he saw the famous Hazel Alastair glaring at him as if he was pure disgusting trash.
Her glare was enough to make the poor man's entire body shudder, as he chose to run away from the scene.
Naturally, during this small exchange in the crowd, the large screen hadn't stopped updating already cracking into the top 10

Finally when the 2nd place name was displayed Nikolai lost hope and let out a sigh.
"haa, only a 3 star again! It's hard to enjoy these average scores after witnessing such a historical moment earlier..."
"Can't do anything about it, not every group will have a star" he mumbled to himself while floating above the crowd. needless to say, since his voice was still being amplified with mana everyone managed to hear his statement.
Just as everyone was feeling dejected and preparing to leave, the final name finally appeared

"............"
Nothing but the sounds of insects and birds chirping could be heard outside the tower, as everyone tried to process the shocking new scene.
Back inside and completely oblivious to the shockwave he just started, Wyatt had finished up his discussion with old man Lachlan.
