บท 18: chapter 18
--MC POV--
I was on my way home after the threesome with Lydia and Malia, when I suddenly smelled someone supernatural inside my home.
I immediately entered and barged inside the living room and what I found was my father and mother speaking with a young woman in her twenties.
The girl was beautiful, but this didn't affect me right now; my family may be under threat, and I won't let anything happen to them.
"Thomas, you scared me. Why did you barge in the house like that?" asked my mother.
Even then I didn't stop eyeing the guest in front of me, after all I don't know what she is capable of and letting her out of my sight for one second could mean losing my family.
Her thoughts were probably similar, since she was alert to and ready to move at any seconds
"Who is she?" I asked to my mother
"Oh, you never met her, right? She is Laura Hale and she used to be your brother girlfriend, when he was still alive"
Hearing these words, both of us calmed down, knowing that the other wasn't here to hurt the old couple.
"Pleased to meet you I'm Laura"
"I'm Thomas, it's an honour to meet my brother's 'greatest luck'" I said jokingly, while looking at my mother.
"Is that how Isabel calls me?" asked Laura with a small laugh.
"How can you embarrass me like that, are you really my son?"
"Please, you tease me every time I bring my girlfriend home" as I said this I sat down near my mother, but while I was calmer I still didn't let down my guard, after all even if she is a friend of my parent, this doesn't change the fact that she is dangerous.
"Anyway, it was my luck to date your son Isabel," said Laura. (For those who don't remember, the Knight couple's son died and then they adopted the MC when he was five. I decided his name will be Brian)
"I'm happy that you think so, know that for me you'll always be like a daughter. You don't know how terrible I felt, when I heard news of what happened to your family. Even after the call you gave us I still was preoccupied for you, since you disappeared for years" Said my mother, while cleaning the tears that were falling down from her eyes.
"I wanted to get out of here, especially since my brother was still young and I feared how this would have affected him"
If I'm not wrong some years ago her house was burned down and the majority of her family died in the fire, it is a well-known event even now after 6 years.
"Let's not speak about the past, are you planning to stay"
"I don't think so, I have come here just to resolve a family business, but I don't know how much I will stay"
"Well, I hope you'll come here often while you are here, where are you living for now? if you need an accommodation, we have a guest room"
"I still have the pub I wanted to open before all this happened, there is an apartment above it"
"I remember it, it was Brian dream to open a pub"
"And he had passed that dream to me" said Laura while smiling, it was really captivating seeing that radiant smile carrying happy memories of the past.
By now I wasn't preoccupied anymore, and unfortunately, I could also feel myself being attracted to the beautiful woman in front me, but luckily for now a part of me was still opposing this as she was my brother girlfriend and even if I never met him, it would be strange for me pursue his last lover.
"Is the apartment still good?" asked my mother hoping to find faults in it, so that she can stay with us.
"it's just a little dirty, but nothing that a day of cleaning can't resolve"
"I can only imagine how much dust it has been accumulated during these years, you should just stay here"
"I can help her" I said, and this earned an angry look from my mother.
Sorry, but I must speak to her in private and I needed an excuse for it. Moreover, I'm pretty sure it's best to not have her stay with us, now that I know she is also a supernatural being, I fear that her family didn't die in an accident, but it was murdered. After all there is no way that a supernatural family can't run away from a simple fire.
There is also the possibility that she became what she is later, like with werewolves who can turn normal humans in their kin.
"I would appreciate some help" understanding what I wanted she accepted my offer.
"This son of mine is always against me" lamented my mother.

As I entered Laura's car and we put some distance from my house I finally asked what I wanted:
"What are you?" a direct question, but it could give me an idea of what to expect.
"A werewolf and you?" I like the fact that she answered me, I feared I would get nothing out of this.
"A werelion"
"Wow, that's pretty rare here in the USA, I've never seen one"
"Well, you are the first werewolf I met too"
"Really? When I was a teenager, this town was full of them. In fact, it was my family who helped this town expand"
"So, you come from a werewolf family, then I assume that it wasn't a normal fire that killed them"
"No, they were probably hunters, that's why I fled. I feared me and my brother would be targeted too, and without a pack we were easy preys. I got a fake identity and tried to disappear." So, hunters are real, and it seems like I could ask her to get me a fake identity.
"But if what you said is true, then why did you come back here now? Moreover, you are alone, don't you fear that those hunters are still here?"
"I'm sure they left, hunters usually go from one city to another, searching for the supernatural, but they may come back if they follow the same trail I found." I'm getting much information, but I must concentrate in getting what I truly need.
"What trail?"
"I'm not going to tell you. The only reason I've answered your questions is to warn you in case something bad happen" she seems like a caring and responsible person, since she wanted to help even if I was a stranger.
"So, something dangerous is on its way here" I asked.
"I would like to know that too, but it may all be just a false alarm" It seems she is also in the dark.
"Then how about, I answer a question of your and you answer one of mine"
"I'm okay, but I want the right to decline questions I can't answer, and you are still going to help me clean the apartment, I wasn't joking when I said it needs to be cleaned"
"Yes ma'am"
"Call me that another time and I'm going to beat you up" good, she still considers herself to be young, than I may stand a chance… wait this was exactly the opposite of what I should have wanted.
*Sigh*
