บท 55: A Help Request 1

"This is great, Peter. I know you love Gwen and trust her, and I think she loves you too. After you tell her your secret, I think she'll accept it, but you need to be careful that she doesn't want to join you in any fights when she finds out who you are," said Jack.

Jack was happy to hear that Peter would finally tell Gwen his secret. One of the things that annoyed him in the comics was that Peter never told Gwen he was Spider-Man, even until her death. But this could also be a problem.

Since Gwen was the daughter of a police officer, she was brave and even became Spider-Gwen in a parallel universe. But Jack remembered that in one of the Spider-Man movies, when Gwen wanted to help Peter, she ended up dying at the hands of the Green Goblin when Peter couldn't save her.

"Jack, I'm not going to talk about the camera thing anymore because even though it's weird, I know you're a genius and it really saved Gwen's life. Since you've taken them down, I just hope you won't do it again without at least telling me first," Peter said.

"Of course, Peter. The problem is that I'm a little paranoid about helping people close to me, so I thought that if I told you everything that I think could happen, I would be called crazy. But since it was related to your girlfriend's privacy, I should have told you," Jack said.

"As for the Green Goblin, I know everything he did was horrible. He's a monster and he's crazy. He almost killed Gwen this time, but I don't think we should kill our enemies. We're heroes and we're different from them. We have to turn them over to the police," Peter said.

"I agree that we shouldn't kill our enemies, Peter. We're different from them and we're not killers. But unfortunately, we've seen that turning these super-powered villains over to the police doesn't always solve things," Jack said.

"That's why I asked you to research a way to imprison super-powered criminals or those who can transform, like Sandman, in my lab. But it's not ready yet, and the police can't keep them locked up," Jack said.

"When you manage to create that prison and figure out a way to strip villains of their powers like Electro, we can sell that to the police and keep the villains locked up. But for now, I'll do things my way," said Jack without committing himself.

Peter looked at Jack and didn't know what else to say. He thought Jack was a hero like him, even more, dedicated than him to saving people. Peter knew that Jack was right and that the police couldn't keep super-powered villains in jail.

But his moral code wouldn't allow him to decide to kill villains because of that, so he knew he wouldn't be able to convince Jack to think like him. Peter didn't know what else to say, and the conversation became tense.

"Peter, I understand that the way you think is different from mine. I'm not a killer, and I won't kill all my enemies. I've already arrested hundreds of criminals, some of whom were murderers, and I've never killed anyone," said Jack.

"But I won't compromise when I face powerful villains like the Green Goblin, who could have killed Gwen or someone close to me. It'll be the same when I face Doctor Octopus and other villains who have already killed several people," said Jack.

After saying that, Jack got up and left. He knew that until the prison that Peter was inventing was created, he wouldn't be able to be friends with Peter as he was before, but that didn't matter.

Jack helped the people he had to help and had his own idea of what was right. He received a lot of help from Spider-Man in the beginning to earn his FP, and in return, he saved Gwen's life, helped Peter maintain his normal life, and gave him a job that could lift Peter and Aunt May out of poverty.

Jack could fight against criminals alone and could also face New York's villains alone. Only when Spider-Man or the Earth was in danger would they need to fight together again.

Jack wouldn't stop being friends with Peter and would still talk to him when he worked in the lab, but when he was Battle Sage and Peter was Spider Man, they would fight separately.

After a few days, Jack was finally able to rest and clear his mind. His conscience was clear, and he was doing what he thought was right. So Jack went back to his training with the various clones.

When Jack returned to his normal life as a hero, he received a request for help. It was a call from Human Torch. Lately, the Fantastic Four had been busy with the Negative Zone, and that's why Jack could hardly speak to him.

"Jack! It's an emergency, we need your help!" Johnny shouted over the phone.

"What happened? Tell me where I should go to help," said Jack anxiously listening to Johnny's urgent voice.

"You need to come to the Baxter Building. An army of bugs from the Negative Zone attacked the portal here. Reed and Susan aren't here, and I can't reach them. Ben took a serum and is powerless. I need to protect the children from the bugs," Johnny said anxiously.

"Okay, I'm on my way there. Hold on for a few minutes," Jack said and hung up the phone.

Jack knew that this must be the attack of Annihilus' bugs from the Negative Zone. Jack remembered that in this attack, Johnny would die, and Jack had to prevent that. This was the first time that something happened that Jack didn't know how to avoid.

Jack had researched, and in this universe, Namor didn't exist, so he didn't know how Reed and Susan weren't in the Baxter Building. The Future Foundation existed, but not all of the children were there. However, Franklin and Valeria existed and were seven years old now.

The two had special powers, but they hadn't done anything very special with their powers yet. But now Jack didn't have time to think about that. He didn't expect things to happen as in the comics. They had already created the serum that allowed Thing to stay human for a week in a year.
