The parchment in the lizard's mouth indeed did not burn, it too moved along with the lizard, from one place to another.
Cane lifted the creature with his fingers and stared at it for a while, as his mind went over a lot of possibilities. Suddenly, the value of the lizard increased in his eyes.
"You have done a good job," Cane said, he kissed the tip of her nose gently, which warmed Iris' heart, so did her face.
After what happened this morning, she was afraid whatever progress they made in this relationship thus far would suffer a setback, but Cane giving her small kisses like this without being awkward made her feel relieved again.
"We need to train the lizard." Cane returned the lizard to Iris and reminded her she needed to keep it with her, out of people's sight, though because of her recklessness, half of the pack members already knew about the lizard's existence.
