บท 23: The Pursuit of Strength: The Fall
Cheshire steps aside and Edward crawls out slowly. He crawls out and reaches the top, when he gets there Cheshire takes three steps away from him to give him some space. She turns to Edward, raises up both her fists and kisses the golden knuckles
"So that was what shattered my rib, I didn't see it because I flew down to fast. That's what you were running to get earlier"
"Yeah, I peeked at these shiny bad boys and thought they'd look good on me. What do you think? Do I look pretty?"
"They are some pretty nice accessories I'll give you that, but don't think you have some kind of edge over me"
"Oh Brute, my angel, I know it must suck to hear it but you're not going to win this fight"
"I'll be the one to decide that" He lets go of his chest, takes in a deep breath and takes a fighting stance "Whenever your-…"
Before Edward can finish his sentence, Cheshire suddenly appears in front of him, she knocks down his head with a punch, kicks his face while its down to the side, rushes over to the side his head is moving to and uppercuts him from there. Mid-air recovery stops Edward from toppling over. But just as his feet touch the ground he starts to take a beating. Cheshire doesn't give him any room to breathe. She comes at him hard with a barrage of blows, knocking him around from the left, the right and the center
"Oh no!" Isabel shouts
"He isn't going to win!" Cayafaz tries to run out but Maya grabs him "Why would you stop me?"
"If you go out now you screw us all! I know it doesn't look good for Edward but we have to trust him. Just wait, please!"
Cayafaz backs down. Cheshire doesn't stop her barrages, for a while she keeps on going at him. When she's satisfied she punches him in his stomach sending him up while heading up her fist slides up his body and punches his chin, it causes him to flip backwards and he roles over himself on the floor. He tries to get up but he can't do it. the whole crowd starts to cheer. The others have a worried expression on their face, the clown has no expression on his face, Nibera has a look of disgust on hers. the crowd starts to cheer.
"DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE"
Cheshire is in love with the chants and starts showboating "What's that? I can't hear you!"
The cheers get even louder "DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE!"
"Oh? Is this what you want?" She walks up to Edward raises his head and punches him two times to the face. The crowd goes wild. Screaming "YEAH!"
Nibera in the V.I.P suite is disappointed and tell pal "Well Pen, seems you were wrong. Edward will lose"
"It does look that way doesn't it?" He says sarcastically still with a blank expression
"Still trying to hide your disappointment with sarcasm, at least let me kill her when the games are over"
"I can't have you do that Nibera, she is the peoples champion. She is can't be killed"
Nibera scoffs in disgust "If that's all then I'm leaving, I'm not going to watch this for another second"
"Come now Nibera, I did say to watch carefully didn't I" Play pal reaches for a cup of wine and finally with a smile, finally bearing an expression, he sips his wine "The games not over yet"
Cheshire laughs as she walks back from the crowd and faces Edward who has his head down
"Oh, that was really something Edward, you really had my heart racing and blood pumping, you were the strongest id ever fought. Id love to make children with you just to see how strong they are, if you agree to that maybe I can tell the clown to keep you alive for me just for a few years. What do you say?"
"So, you want me to have kids with you? So, they can turn into worse monsters than you or i? My answer is simple" He raises his head and looks her dead in the eye's "Over my dead body"
She looks at him as they both smile then she French kisses him passionately, exchanging their tongues with each other. She steps away from him and rubs her finger on her lips.
"Oh, good god! Edward your blood tastes so exquisite. Its so good! So, this is the blood of a strong man such as yourself?"
She starts moaning and quickly puts her left hand in-between her legs and starts to rub herself out as the middle finger of her right hand is in her mouth. She continues to moan and stops once she reaches climax. She starts to breath heavily once she stops
"Oh my, your taste was so fantastic. Since you won't give me children at least this exquisite sensation of your taste and the memory of it will satisfy me till I die"
Nibera from the suite sees this and loses her cool. She tries to fly down to go kill her but Play pal's assistant holds her back
"Let me at her! Let go of me and let me at her right now god damn it!"
"Please captain you have to calm down! I beg you" The assistant tries to plead with captain Nibera but she doesn't listen, pal just sits there and sips his wine. Back on the field though
Cheshire giggles "Well it was fun Edward… I mean brute, but its time to give the people what they want, don't worry about your friends. Since you did more than just satisfy me ill make sure none of them are killed or let them kill themselves and as an added bonus ill kill you quickly and painlessly" she then smiles to his face
"Oh really?" Edward asks and starts to laugh slowly. Play pal in the suite also starts laughing and nearly chokes on his drink
"It's finally time, he's about to stop playing around" Edward continues to laugh and the laugh only gets louder, and louder, and louder till finally he stops
Cheshire in an annoyed tone asks "What's so funny?"
"Oh, it's nothing serious. I just find it amusing you know, I know one of us is already going to die here… I just find it funny… and can't understand why you think that's going to be me"
Just as Edward finishes making that statement, Cheshire suddenly falls to her knees
"What the?" She asks as she suddenly finds herself flat on her belly. Edward then stands up as though nothing has happened and he has no injury, and for the first time since the death games started the whole crowd has gone silent.
"What the hell is going on?! Answer me! How the hell did you do this?!"
"I didn't do anything Cheshire. Don't you know that saying? "the pride cometh before the fall" that's all that happened. I simply just sped up the process"
Edward then raises up is hand, and out of it is a long bike chain that goes from his hand to his side. Then Cheshire hears a rattle behind her. She turns her head and sees the chain slinking away covered in her blood, it's ripped out the skin behind her knees and destroyed the muscles in one pull. It's also torn the flesh off her ankles and heels she can't walk
"When! When did you find the time to do this?!"
"Oh, that was easy, I saw the chains from Mid-air when I dodged your smoke screen. I knew you had picked up a weapon so I thought about how id get mine without you interfering and came up with the idea for you to lead me to it, it was difficult at first because where you punched me sent me off course, but when I crawled out that ditch I made sure I stood where I needed to be. While you gave me your barrage I let you lead me to it. I have to thank you for that. You made my work easier for me"
"You mean you planned all of this while we fought?!"
"Yes. I'm glad you had the heart to spare my friends when you planned to kill me so as my parting gift to you" He starts to wrap the bike chains around both his hands from his fingertips to his elbow I'm going to kill you now. Slowly… and painfully"
He smiles at her and she smiles back. He punches her in the throat, then her face, knocking some of her teeth out as he bludgeoned her with the chain. He then unwraps the chain off one hand and chokes her with the chain by wrapping it around her neck. He drags it down and smacks her forehead into the floor, he then continues to do it repeatedly. The chains grip on her neck is to tight and the movements cause her to throw up her lunch and some blood. He then spreads his wings and flies her around the field dragging her on the floor with a lot of force to disfigure certain parts of her body but not enough to kill her. He then stops at the sight where they both dropped their weapons.
She struggles to scream and breath but it isn't happening. Edward takes the chain around her neck and wraps it under her feet in squatting position, forcing her to stay that way. She can't look up the pressure is to much on her spine. Edward laughs at the site of her and mocks her, calling her a pitiful display. She can't take the insults and forcibly raises up her head. The pain is even two times more than it was in her previous position, she's stuck, Edward takes advantage of that and kicks her jaw forcing her head back and causing the chains to break. Edward unwraps the chain in his other hand
"It's time to finish this"
He spins the chain around in one spot creating a massive amount of force. After a while of spinning he throws the chain above him and once it felt like it was about to pull the parts wrapped around his hand, he pulled it down and whipped Cheshire across her chest, tearing through her tracksuit, her clothes and her skin. Edward doesn't stop though at one whip, he goes again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again until he rips off all the flesh surrounding her rib cage completely. Her ribs are exposed and her heart is beating. She's wheezing in pain and blood is pouring out of her mouth and chest. He breaks the ribs with the bike chain and exposes the heart. Before he does anything, he asks her
"Any lasts word's?"
She laughs but the sound of her laughs mixed in with the wheezing of the pain sound like she's sobbing. She tells him "You Edward are a monster… a bigger monster than I am. You may believe you deserve salvation but you don't, your more damned than I am weather you believe it or not. And that's the truth no one else will tell you. No one can save you"
With a smirk on Edwards face he says "You know what Cheshire" He bends over and whispers in her ear "I believe you" Then backs away
Cheshire starts to laugh, then Edward goes to pick up his blade and her katana, tucking his blade in his pocket and the katana in his back. He walks back to her, wraps the chain around her heart and tugs at it slowly. He does it once, she coughs up some blood. He does it again, she coughs up some more. Then he does it repeatedly pulling it back gently but very, very fast. As the pain sets her mind and body into shock her pupils constrict. Edward continues to pull and pull until its almost out. Finally, before the last pull. He picks out his blade from his pocket and cuts the organs connected to the heart from the top and pulls it out with the chain. Killing Cheshire instantly
Her body doesn't fall over, instead she dies on her knees with her head down. Edward drops his blade and wraps the chain around his arm a bit. He pulls out her katana and stands over her. He raises the blade up and then cuts her head off. After that Play pal gets up and announces
"Ladies and Gentlemen, I am proud to announce the winner of our death games! Edward the Brute angel of the garden!"
The crowd goes wild and all those who survived the games up until that point come out of hiding, including Ethan and the others. As the victory is announced, Edward begins to float just barely four inches off the floor, he looks up to the empty void him but his eyes catch the bright stadium lights being shun on him. As he raises his hands to cover his eyes he feels the embrace of someone holding him and pulling him in closer, and a droplet of water on his face. He lifts his hands and sees captain Nibera welcoming him into her bosom with her arms wide open
"I always knew you would win… Edward" After saying that her and Edward slowly descend and stay on the field. The clown jumps from the V.I.P suite and his assistant tries to chase after him. He lands on the ground splendidly
"Well done my boy, that was such an entertaining death game, you really know how to put on a show, but next time just win the game rather than give me a heart attack"
"Ooh leave the boy alone, he won the games and your bet, didn't he?"
"Yeah I guess he did win the games" A voice comes out of nowhere, when the three turn to look its Cayafaz and the rest of Edwards friends. Edward leaves Nibera and walks up to Cayafaz. Cayafaz steps out of the lineup with his friends and approaches Edward
"Cayafaz" Edward says as a greeting to him
"Edward" Cyafaz says as a greeting to him
"The games have come to an end and your still alive"
"Yeah, the games are over and as promised" He turns his knife with the handle facing Cayafaz
"Now you can kill me" Everyone but Nibera and the clown gasp in shock
"Cayafaz! WHAT THE HELL IS HE TALKING ABOUT!?" Ethan yells
"You can't act like you have forgotten why we allied ourselves Ethan. We partnered because we planned to kill Edward, remember?"
Maya and Isabel at the same time ask "You planned that?!"
"Yes, we did, but we almost failed. I got the chance again but he beat me. And Maya you should remember because you were there for that part. He promised after the fight, so we could all live… he would let me kill him"
Isabel yells out "But he just saved us and won us the games! You're not going to actually kill him, are you? Edward! You wont actually let yourself die, will you?"
"I made a promise… I have to keep it" He looks to Ethan and the rest with a smile on his face "Make sure you let Akira know how sorry I am"
Ethan with a smile on his face "I will… I will" A tear drops from Ethan's eyes as Edward nods his head in approval
"Ready Cayafaz?" Edward asks "Ready…Edward and thank you" Cayafaz responds
He places the knife on Edwards chest he pulls his hand back and then… he thrusts. But before the knife can hit Edwards chest, play pal pen steps in and snaps it
"I don't understand…why you would kill your teammate after he just won you the game"
The others are shocked by the clowns stepping in
"I don't understand what you mean… he's for team damnation…You said if he beat us our souls were forfeit!"
"And yet, the boy wears team salvations uniform. Doesn't that mean?"
Edward gasps and says "I don't have to die"
