บท 5: Red Diamond
I stood up after trying to find the most comfortable way to sleep. It was just impossible for me to get some shut-eye right now.
I was too busy thinking about my newfound power. And the mysterious app that had appeared on my phone.
Turning sideways to the counter, there I looked at the clock.
"4.50 AM"
*SIGH*
" I guess I am too excited to even sleep." Tapping the sides of my bed I looked for my phone.
When I found it, I unlocked it and then tried to press on the app. But it didn't give the same reaction as late time, or any at all. It was as if the app didn't work at all.
"How come I'm not able to go inside the white room? Was it a one-time use?"
I had tried to press it after coming home, but it didn't work just like now. So after giving it a few tries, I decided to go to sleep to see if it would work the next day.
"Well even if it's gone, I still have this quirk to use to my advantage." Confirming my thought I then focused and tried to for yet another gold bar.
But this one was different from the small one before. It was rough around the edges and resembled a somewhat large rock. And it was bigger, much bigger than the last one.
If I had to give a rough estimate I would probably say around a kilogram. Which was a huge step up from the last one which weighed around a few grams.
"I guess I have a knack for this, or is it the books that I read which helped me? Either way, I'm sure now that I should move on to different objects now. Such as a gun, or anything that could help me defend myself and my mother from harm."
It might sound dumb to have a gun around in this society, and I might just sound paranoid. But it's never wrong to be cautious, and when the time comes when I have to use it. I'll be grateful for my overthinking.
Also, I have thought of other ways to make money since selling gold bricks at pawn shops wasn't really the biggest way to get rich.
I could instead learn how to make valuable diamonds, such as red diamonds. Which are considered to be the rarest and most expensive diamonds in the world.
I could also find excuses for finding these diamonds and just say that I was digging and accidentally found them. Instead of explaining how I just stumbled across a kg of gold from nowhere.
This way I could also convince my mom that my findings were pure luck and not that the money was dirty and earned in a bad way.
I already planned this since after I had come home, I searched up the molecular structure of red diamond and have gotten the basic mastery over it.
It took me longer to learn than gold, that's for certain.
Now focusing my mind yet again on the creation. I built the diamond bit by bit and molecule by molecule. A minute later a red glowing diamond came out of my chest and fell onto my lap.
*haaah*
Taking in a deep breath, I fell back down to the bed and wiped away the sweat that had accumulated on my forehead.
"Damn, I didn't think it would take so much energy to form a diamond." I then sat there for a few minutes to regain my energy.
And although I felt a bit hungry, I ignored the feeling and stood up yet again to look at my new creation. Picking it up I found the diamond to be much larger than I had thought.
"Holy shit, this has to be the largest red diamond in the world. It is at least a dozen carats." And that is saying something since a single carat could be sold for a million dollars.
"HELL YEAH, I'M RICH."
But where was I gonna sell this treasure? It is sure as hell wasn't gonna be a pawn shop. Since they didn't have enough money to pay me with.
'How about an auction house? I think there is a famous one here in New York. What was it called? It had something to do with Heritage. HERITAGE AUCTIONS, that's what it was!'
After searching up the name on google I found it to be only tens of kilometers away. And on their website, it also stood what date the next auction would occur along with a phone number that I could call to list my diamond.
I then picked up my phone, calmed my nerves down, and dialed the number.
*DING*
A few seconds later I could hear someone pick up the call.
"Hello there, is there something I can help you with?" I heard a raspy voice that belonged to a male come from the other side.
"Hello, and yes, I would like to auction off a mineral that I found at one of your next auctions."
"And do you mind telling me what type of mineral it is?" He asked.
" It is a red diamond and a quite large one at that." I asserted
Once he heard that, the man on the other side seemed to have stopped speaking for a while before asking yet another question.
"Are you sure?"
"I am," I said, not sure why they wouldn't believe such a thing.
I guess it's because of how valuable and rare the red diamond is. And it might also be because prank callers dial the number from time to time to have some fun.
" I will need your address to send you a car to pick you up and send you to the auction house. There you will meet a gemologist to see if the diamond is real or fake. If real then, we will put the diamond in the next auction that will occur in two days. If you want more information then you can ask us when you get here." His voice sounded much more serious than before, but I could still detect a small bit of excitement in it.
