บท 99: Chapter 99
Waking up with a headache, Jax rushed off to the corner and vomited into the trashcan, still dizzy from his earlier rollercoaster-like ride. Sitting back down on the couch, Jax leaned back and rested his hand on his forehead while closing his eyes. From what he briefly saw, the grownups were still discussing and from what he picked up here and there, they were talking about different parts of Rexor. 'Sounds like they're planning which area to start looking for Mother first.'
"Awake at last, huh? How did you like my Twirly Thunder Twister? My sweet dear granddaughter giggles like crazy after riding just one of them! HAHAHA!"
"Ugh. You're too old, old man. If your granddaughter is as big as you, I can see how she could giggle after what you put me through. As for sweet? Heh."
"PUAHAHA! He just called you an old man, old man! I have to tell your wife this later! It's too funny!" Quickantel was huddled over clenching her sides as she tried to control her laughter but after thinking about what Jax jus said, she quickly lost control in another fit of laughter.
"Sigh. As you can see, this is why we call her Quickantel…because she's quick and tells your secrets." Leon looked at his friends and couldn't help but apologize to Jax since as of right now, neither seem dependable and that's exactly what they needed to be to find any clues about Jax's mother.
"Hey, hey, hey! I don't tell secrets! I just like to gossip! Don't worry, little boy, I'm actually quite close lipped when it comes to missions, especially secret missions."
"Ha! If only your lower lips were as close lipped! HAHAHA!"
"Gallo! You! ARGH!"
As the petite but well-endowed gothic girl charged at the Hulk, Jax turned towards Leon to ask about what they had planned out so far. With the four of them, Leon, Galloway, Quickantel, and Ms. Sonia, they were each planning to take on one of the four cardinal directions and start their search from the coast of Rexor before moving inland.
"And if even then we find no traces of my mother?"
"Well, let's hope we do…but if we don't, then we'll continue this plan on the other continents. Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola, Galar, and then Paldea. It's been over a year…honestly they could even be in other unknown continents but let's keep our hopes up."
After the plan was set in motion, Leon assigned Professor Uriel as temporary Headmaster and took a long LOA (Leave of Absence) since this search was going to take a long time. Each one had ways to communicate over long distances since they could not risk traveling with their Pokephones as those devices could be hacked and traced. With communication secured, they could all provide each other with what they found…or didn't find and then regularly report to Jax.
With Master Leon and Ms. Sonia now away from the academy, Jax did not know what he should be doing. He just came back from the Great Beyond and had no desire to go train there again. Plus, he already took our 12 of the bosses and the only ones left were way too strong for his current team.
'Jax! Take a look at your missions! You can knock some of them out of the way since you have nothing better to do anyways.'
"Hm? Why are you rushing me so much to complete these system generated quests? It's not like they are going anywhere."
"Uh, duh! Every time you complete a mission, I, Metsys, become a little bit stronger! You think Protocol 1 only benefitted you? No, dummy! It benefits both of us! I still have heaps of functions you haven't unlocked yet!"
"…WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY SO!? Ugh, are there are more functions like the Item one where it depends on your mood?"
"…I plead the fifth…"
"The fifth? You mean the fifth amendment? Hey! That's something from Earth! How do you even know that?"
"Of course, because I was bestowed upon you by the one and only great Kami-sama so we're connected by soul! Whatever you know, I do too! But whatever I know…well, only I and Kami-sama know! Hehe! :P"
No longer caring about anything Metsys was saying, Jax took a look at his new quests since he really didn't have anything better to do:
- Have one pokemon reach level 100 (20 SP) (Incomplete)
- Discover one of the three Rexor region legendaries (30 SP per legendary met) (Incomplete)
- Find out the truth about the Skyborne clan (50 SP) (Incomplete) (Caution: Danger level maximum, death will most likely occur)
- Defeat a total of five Gyms (10 SP per Gym beaten) (1/5) (Incomplete)
- Defeat 100 Team Rocket Grunts (10 SP per Grunt defeated) (27/100) (Incomplete)
Total SP: 1366 (Was 1086 after beating first gym, gained another 10 SP for this quest and gained 270 SP for the 27 Grunts defeated in the cave Heatran was in. There were 30 Team Rocket Members but 3 of them were leaders.)
Jax stared hatefully at the ring on his finger. Complete some of them while he had nothing to do!? Each and every one was a ludicrous ordeal in and of itself! Just looking at the list brought upon a headache like the one he woke up to just earlier in the office. Rubbing his temples, Jax just mumbled some curses at Kami-sama and Metsys about how unfair they were being.
